Man this really reminded me, and you even gave voice to it: What a great freakin' game Super Mario 3D World is. I really forgot how creative and fun it is. I agree it might actually be better than Odyssey, blasphemous as that may sound. I really hope the rumors of the Mario collection are true!!!

Not as good as 64,Sunshine, Galaxy or Odyssey. Still pretty OK, but this was pretty disappointing for a mainline Mario game that didn't push any boundaries. Especially so when considering this was Nintendo's first HD console. It was just more of 3D Land but without the stereoscopic 3D. Just felt like Wii U was done when this came out and it was. (Man the Wii U SUCKED)

Music was fantastic tho.

Best game in the franchise as far as I'm concerned. I love this game something dearly; went out of my way to perfect the damn thing. Every star, stamp, flagpole, every level beaten by all five characters. Some of the most fun I've had with a game in years. Always cool to hear Brad give this game it's due.

Second best game in the series to Super Mario World. I dunno, maybe that's just nostalgia talking and it's really the best one. Either way, I always felt it was criminally underrated in its time. Glad it will hopefully be coming to the Switch as more people will get a chance to play it and I wouldn't mind one bit to have a portable version.

RE Resistance seems like it would be 1000x better if it was 4 v CPU, their version of COD Zombies.

Also, hot-ish take I guess: 3D World is ok. It's hampered by its design for co-op play, and fixed camera, but we got Captain Toad out of it so I guess that makes it worth it.

This came with my WiiU and I never played it because I don't usually enjoy platformers. Kinda regret it now, this looks fun

@brad I'm sure this has been mentioned, but we need a Guinea Pig cam for the streams! Go full streamer, cat/dog/pet cam!

3D World actually seems like it is a well designed Mario game. It's not just a hodge-podge of elements thrown together. I felt like all the "New Super Mario Bros." games that came out around that time(DS/Wii/Wii-U) felt under designed and uninteresting to play. Those games are the reason I never really cared to investigate or play 3D World. Respected games journalist and Filp-Grip spokesman Jeremy Parish loved "New Super Mario Bros. U" but unfortunately I couldn't trust his opinion on that one. I also recall Giant Bomb really liking 3D Land on the 3DS a lot, but never personally owned a 3DS so that one slipped past me.

After watching this quick-look though... 3D World looks great! Now I'm kind of excited for that rumored Switch port. Something do after I finally get around to getting all the stars in Odyssey.

Nobody talks about 3D World because nobody bought a Wii U. No BC for its digital games on Switch means no way to play it currently without paying a lot for a Wii U.

I liked 3D Land more than 3D World.

This video nicely displays the amazing gameplay variety that SM3DW can throw at you in a short space of time. For me the collectables often ruin the pacing though, forcing (or at least heavily incentivising) you to repeat sections you've just done when you'd rather keep moving forwards.

3D World > Odyssey has always been true. People just let accessibility cloud their judgement.
