Watching Alex investigate without filling out the evidence thing is like having a waiter who refuses to write anything down. It's making me extremely anxious.

I'm not entirely sure why, for some reason, Carmen Sandiego feels like blasphemy in the face of Nancy Drew.

Oh hell yeah. We had this exact version of the game as a kid, but we didn't know any geography, so had to run into the next room to ask parents every time.

Yay! They finally got this working! As a kid I never really got to play Carmen Sandiego but all around me she was a cultural phenomenon (I was a junpstart/freddie fish/ spy fox kid) so It’s really interesting to see how one of these games were played.

I’m really going to miss Clue Crew. Thank you Abby and Alex.

Play Where in TIME is Carmen Sandiego. I had it for the NES, it's pretty great.

VILEBox is still/always the most definitive way to play these older games now. All pre-packed and working with DOSbox without any real config.

@rapid: Check out the pack above, you'll want the "Where in the World is Carmen Deluxe 3.5" edition, it has the animated world locations and the videocalls from the Chief.

I don't know how many cases you have to win to get the last level of detective, I just remember my parents and I spending...HOURS...upon HOURS trying to do it...

And I didn't retain a SINGLE FUCKING THING, except that 411 is what you call for information!

Edit: WOW! I am putting visuals to SO MANY random sound bites in my head! Guess those neurons still fire after 25 years.

I had no idea the chief I grew up with wasn't the original. I hope they get to check out one with the true chief before Abby leaves.

@curufinwe: You were doing so well for a while...then you suddenly forgot the site's content doesn't revolve around your very specific preferences, and that you're not forced to watch content that you love to remind everyone you don't like.

Personally, "Where in X is Carmen San Diego" are so much up my alley than Nancy Drew was. Carmen San Diego taught my baby-self what "Tex-Mex" was, and what color "auburn" is!

@rapid: Sorry, I was referring to the VILEbox link I put in the same post. You should be able to get a win/mac version of that game working with it.

This is so much fun. I've never played any Nancy Drew, so it was neat watching Abby show me all about it. Now Alex is playing Carmen, which I *did* play and I get to have some nostalgia.

I sure will miss this series!

Thank you @poke__egg, this is gonna be cool.

If anyone wants to try it out in a low-effort, temporary way, you can play one in the browser here: https://arcadespot.com/game/where-in-the-world-is-carmen-sandiego/

This was a fun pick for what I imagine will be one of the last Clue Crew games :'(

I've loved this series and I wish Abby all the best on her next endeavor (also I hope Alex and Vinny take up the adventure game torch >_>)

If you're looking for input for an adventure game to get into for this last month, I think Abby would enjoy The Last Express.

Really bummed by the news! Clue crew is one of my favourite series :(

I'm with everyone else who've mentioned this.

I am going to really miss Abby, especially with her and Alex's adventure/Clue Crew themed games together. Their banter, contemplating puzzles, pop culture references, laughing at some dubious accents or gameplay designs. Many fond memories and favourite streams these past 3.5 years have y'all in them!

I adore Giant Bomb East, the main reason I subscribed, and will be sad come end of November when we say good bye to the radiant and forever funky Abby. Hopefully GBeasts keep up with the Adventure/Non-Combat/Simulation playthroughs occasionally to satiate some of us fans. :-) <3

(Disclaimer - I also love all other genres of games, just fyi.)

Wait, this came out in the late 80s, yet there's a really good representation of a mobile flip phone on the left from the early 2000s...

The one in the video happens to be the Carmen Sandiego game I remember. Was a huge accomplishment for me to catch anyone, so those animations were extra exciting.

Rough to revisit though. It was a lot more fun when the geography aspect still seemed like it could be an adventure and not useless trivia and school work.

How was this game played without the Internet?

Well it's been a year, but hopefully an answer is never to late: the game either came with a massive guidebook, or assumed the player would have access to something like an encyclopedia. I remember this enormous newsprint book that was just filled with things like: landmarks, historical facts, and other pieces of information that the player would just have to manually look up.
