Too big games for the PC, and it would be nice to decide the best one. Which one will you think it's the best?
Yes, they are very different, but it shouldn't matter at all, which one would be the best game in your opinion?
Sid Meier's Civilization V
Game » consists of 6 releases. Released Sep 21, 2010
Civilization V brings brand new gameplay elements to this beloved franchise, while maintaining the "just one more turn" mentality.
Civilization V or Starcraft II?
Apples are way better than Oranges. No contest in this epic fruit battle.
Both games cater to very different fans. I have played Warcraft 3 untill it was grey and have only had a passing interest in the Civ games. That doesn't mean Starcraft 2 is a better game, it's just a better game for my tastes.
Obviously SC2 is the best. Can Civ 5 have custom ums maps of SC2? I think not.
But seriously, different games, different fans. I think SC2 will have the better life in the long run, especially seeing the whole GSL thing going down.
They are different types of strategy games, so it's hard to compare them all that well.
That said, I have more interest in playing Civilization V.
" @iAmJohn said:I agree with both statements." Get both, you cheap bastard. "This. I know I will get Civ V, since I already have SC2. "
As everyone keeps saying, very different games so a comparison seems pointless.
Having said that, I'm more of a Civvy addict. So Civ 5 for me if I had to choose.
I am sure civ 5 will get a Starcraft mod at some point :)" Obviously SC2 is the best. Can Civ 5 have custom ums maps of SC2? I think not. But seriously, different games, different fans. I think SC2 will have the better life in the long run, especially seeing the whole GSL thing going down. "

"it matters IMMENSELY that they are two different types of games because everyone has a different taste in games.
I like Starcraft 2, I really do. It's a great game and I've been anticipating it for a long ass time. But, I've rarely been playing it. Maybe it's because I'm going through a phase where games aren't really interesting me anymore, or maybe it's just a great game and not the godsend that I was hyping up. Yesterday, though, I watched the Road to Civ video and as someone whose only played Civ 4 and Rev, the game looks amazing. I'm not sure what it even is that looks so incredible to me. I really like the art style, the new hud, the new movement of units, the ability to do ranged attacks, etc. etc. Idk. It might actually end up being Civ 5 for me. SC2 is still a stellar game though, and you should get it anyway if you have the money.
" @jukezypoo said:Aww, that's not nice." The New Shogun Total War has me far more excited than either has, but I love Starcraft II, and I'll surely be buying Civ 5 day-one. So I suppose my answer is get both. "man, after buying Empire; never buying another one of those again. "
But in all honesty, I never really got into Empire, purely because I am entirely uninterested in the era during which it takes place. But I still play Rome and ME II to this day, and have spent a couple hundred hours with them, so a return to Shogun seems perfect to me.
Sid has a reputation for amazing quality games, not C&C knock offs.
Also, there hasn't been a game more addicting the Civ, and I'm also a history buff, so it's no contest.
I still like SC2, btw, it's just nothing new, really.

I meant that it was almost like coding your own game, due to how robust the editor was. The ways you could use python was still pretty restrictive in Civ 4. You're not going to be able to make a shmup with Civ 4's world builder." @Semition said:

EDIT: On topic though, I'm sure I'll be playing the crap out of Civ 5 once it comes out, and SC2 will have to wait. After a week or 2, then I'm not sure which one will hold me.
Civilization V for me. Playing a bunch of IV recently and it's a load of fun, only the damn thing keeps freezing my computer every 30 minutes...
