As much of a Steam snob as I am, I now have a reason to download Origin. Smooth move, EA.
Despite the Origin nonsense, I am extremely stoked for this game.

The fifth major installment of the SimCity franchise is a new take on the old city simulation formula. It features asynchronous multiplayer as well as Maxis' new Glassbox engine, allowing for real time customization and upgrading of buildings.
Here Are a Bunch of Random Details for Maxis' New SimCity
Err, I do think about fire services when I think of Paris, but not in the good way. As far as I know there are lots of poorly constructed, fire proofed and maintained apartment houses around Paris that tend to catch fire every now and then and kill bunches of people.@Cubic said:
I have to say, "police and fire services from Paris" aren't the first thing I think of when I think France. Maybe they mean Jacques Clouseau.
(that isn't meant to be offensive to French people, I just mean it's not something I think of as iconically French)
no?
Turns out that thing is a thing, and my thing is a thing and thing thing thing is a thing.
SHUT THE FUCK UP. PLEASE.
I really hope this isn't anything like the post 4 crap. It a shame that many sequels for strategy seem to be about making the game more accessible rather than increasing depth. 4 was probably one of my favourite games of all time, so I am tentatively excited. I was pretty excited for Civ 5 after all...
The world in 2014:
"Coming soon in the elite uber digital deluxe double decker, wham bam, wiggie woggie edition: Exclusive universe unlock - get to explore the entire universe. Creature unlock. Build and play as any creature you can imagine - from a dna level. And multiplayer unlock DLC"
Then in small barely legible writing:
"Also included: the spore 2" the game."
The 'announced DLC' thing is a bad photoshop. If you actually look at Origin, it doesn't exist. God you people are easy marks.
The Origin hate is usually pretty dumb. Steam is awesome, but Origin works completely fine. Sure it would be nice having all your games on one system like steam, but it's really not a big issue if you need to use Origin for a few EA games.
The major sign of whether or not this will be a decent "sim" is whether they still let you zone for industrial, residential, and commercial like you could in every other major sim city game. If you are manually placing most buildings, instead of letting the city populate itself based on your management, then this game will probably be very simplified.

The Social Flow methodology is designed to make the development of players' cities have an affect on other players' metropolises. Not to be too picky, but affect is a verb. I think you meant effect.
You did a good thing. You can't let someone so pretentious get away with things like that.
:D
I like Sim City. I don't like DLC that should be in the game to begin with. You can break it down from there.
