    A man's game.

Splatterhouse 2 for the Sega Genesis is a game that relies on one thing, and one thing only: difficulty. If you can beat this game, you should be proud. I find myself barely making it to level 3 on a good day. But I digress..
The graphics in this game are solid for genesis. Identical to the prequel 'Splatterhouse,' which was an arcade game. The sound and music are great! Because they're god damn creepy.
You can watch a small intro after you turn the game on (or emulate, good luck finding this one cheap on Ebay) which doesn't explain a lot but gets the job done. I do enjoy the story but it's not important.
The game starts with out protagonist, Rick Taylor, passed out laying on the ground. He picks himself up as creepy music sets the mood and the 'wtf is going on' factor, and proceeds to beat ass. You'll find yourself punching mutants in half, battling many bosses (which is a good thing) and jumping over a plethora of spikes, pits, and mutant bone-worms.
If you can memorize where enemies pop out and where to stand, you can beat this game. I do not have the patience or attention span, and end up dying death after death.  (as far as I know there are unlimited continues)
The only bad thing I see about this game are the platform elements. Rick can only jump so far and the pits and spikes are pretty wide. The jumping is clunky. However, the jump-kicking is deadly.
Don't kick this game down because of the difficulty. It's named Splatterhouse. It does what it's set out to do.
        Kick ass.
