Intro to the video made me laugh a little, but the engine itself looks FANTASTIC. Also, I love Freelancer and Wing Commander.

I'm currently trying to figure out my pledge level I want, but really, this looks awesome.

I've got the biggest space boner from that announcement.

Also, the fact they're making a combat space sim campaign and an open world is exceedingly smart, not only do you get to bring in both Space Sim crowds, but you will (potentially) make the combat better overall.

Yeah it uses the Cryengine 3 for the visuals. Which makes it look amazing!

And it Looks fucking awesome!

Agreed. They're still relying on crowdfunding but I wonder how much less/more exposure this project will get simply because it's divorced from Kickstarter.

This vid was of Chris showing the game off. Really sweet speech and game play footage as well as trailer at the beginning. I am really looking forward to this game.

hell, i'll buy a new PC for this.

this is the first game with any sort of crowdfunding i have actually supported. actually it's the first game to make me legit excited in a long time. had to get that Freelancer title because that is a game that changed my life, so yeah, there goes my money~

That teaser trailer got me more excited for this game than any game I've wanted to play before.. I mean the more he talks to more I just want the damn thing...

Just watching the cockpit view is nothing short of awesome, I'd use a Steel Battalion style controller for this

I've watched the walkthrough on their site a few times and it really looks just gorgeous, but 2 years is a loooong time away. I really hope they can make the money they need. 
 
I'm actually a little bit disappointed that there's nothing but 5 minutes of time on a TNT for this project (well, boo hoo @me). Where's the flight club at? ;)

I've known about this for awhile, but ya it sounds neat. I don't know that I'd put anything into the kickstarter or whatever (I've never been big on space games although freelancer was pretty cool) but I'm interested to see where it goes.

That actually looks pretty cool. I never got to play Freelancer or Wing Commander, so this would be a first for me. The concept sounds interesting enough.

Is this thing not on Kickstarter? i fear it won't get as much attention as it probably needs to make that kind of money on his own.

I'm looking forward to this thing and wonder if the in between missions banter would play out like Wing Commander. I feel it should play out like Mass Effect (as in the conversational systems) and their stats (abilities as fighter pilots) adjust based on how they feel about you...like a dating sim with space ships...

Holy shit. Ever since X3: Albion Prelude I've been waiting for another Space Sim. This is it. This is what I've been waiting for. I haven't been this excited since Bill Murray's sex tape.

Heard about this on Rebel FM and they said when you watch the trailer you will think it's CGI and sure enough it's hard to believe it's real time stuff. Space is a pretty cool place for visual eye candy.

I just don't like that fact that the open world part of it is MP only(actually it sounds like a full on MMO, which makes me dislike it even more), single player is only the mission based freespace style stuff....

Aiming for 2-5 Mil I do hope they get it, but since there's really no time limit theres really nothing stopping them..

@Genkkaku: The crowdfunding component has a 30 day limit. They need to reach the $2M otherwise the investors participating in this project will not give their support.

Unless they put out something new (I don't know if they can) or more websites put the trailer and/or an article out there it's probably gonna keep crawling along until a few days before it's over and hopefully the final days will push it over the 2 million mark.

I'm way more sceptical than I want to be and it's not because of the game, but because I wonder if there are enough people out there (left) who really want a new big space sim. Oh well, we'll see.

I can see that happening but I'm hoping the opposite.. I'm hoping that even if the crowd who are looking for that kind of experience isn't that big, that maybe the PC crowd who want this new big game for there PC make up the rest..

So far it's made about $30K since yesterday which is not that huge, so I guess the next few days will be telling.. I also noticed that you have to opt in to 'If not funded have your money refunded', which is good for them i guess..

The closest thing to a space sim I've ever played is Descent, and yet I am in awe of what this game is promising.

It seems to have gained some momentum now, between the kickstarter and their own thing I reckon they may be able to reach about 3 mil, still the privateer like stuff it's only at 5 mil so.....

Alright, I chipped in for my space BMW. Now, the fact that it's 2 years out has me worried... not for the developers, but because that gives me enough time to set aside a small portion of my paychecks and have a new HOTAS and a Rift in time for launch. Investing in single games always worries me, but damn this seems awesome.
