The smuggler looked neat. Kinda reminded me of Stranger's Wrath.
There's a full 6 minute new trailer over at the main SWTOR site, no idea why they decided to show this one at the conference.
Also for all three videos, set up in story-chronological order, you can visit the official swtor site http://www.swtor.com/info/story/setting

It's just hard for me to care anymore.@RE_Player92 said:I'm putting this in with Diablo 3 in the "3 years of waiting is too fucking long" category.I'm rapidly joining you on this one.I was excited when they announced this game. Well, Blur Studios makes a badass trailer as always. Trouble is, having played the beta... the gameplay just wasn't there. For me at least. It does have a lot going for it and some great attention to detail, but a monthly fee is just too hard to justify for another long chain of "Collect 17 bear anuses" quests. Hopefully a lot of that will change by release because I really want to like the thing.
There will be hands-on gameplay at their booth, so I assume there will be something similar to the Taral V Walkthrough that showcased in the recent PAX East (shown in this GB post). I can't say if it will be another Flashpoint or... what, but I assume they'll give something for the people to talk about game-play wise.
@PrimeSynergy said:Don't even play that card. Pushing a game back doesn't mean that it's going to be more polished either. Too Human, GT5, FF13, FF14, and a bunch of other games had the hell delayed out of them. They weren't horrible games by any means(well 14 kinda was), but I think anyone could easily make a case none of those games were worth the wait. And judging by how SWTOR is coming along, I personally think it's going to end up on this list too.@Deevster said:Really people? "Yo dawg, we got a new flashpoint."
"...ok. We know they're in there. Ummm, what about a release date?"
"CHECK OUT THIS NEW SPACESHIP."
"That's nice and all, but how abo-"
"BAM. CHECK OUT THIS BRAND NEW CGI TRAILER THAT MISREPRESENTS THE GAME IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE."
"That was pretty cool. Can you guys-"
"........AND YOU GET A BRAND NEW SPACESHIP."
"Ok..."
It has nothing to do with being impatient. At this point, it's more like this game obviously won't live up the hype. We've all seen this trend before with other games and some of us are just sick of it. It's nice you're still excited for it, but some of us are just done. We were on board at first, but this train looks like it's never going to end and we just want off.
I do not understand how people can feel this way about TOR and not about GW2? Just out of curiousity.

I'm not impatient with the developers. Feel free to take the time. I'm impatient with the PR department. This game would have been huge even if you didn't start pimping it out three friggin years in advance! That's what annoys me. We're seeing all these great looking CG trailers that mean nothing when we should be seeing more game play trailers. Hell we should actually start getting more actual hands on previews.
@CL60 said:Why does length of game development even matter at all.. it's just you being impatient. It's not like it's been in development since the 90s like some other game. I want an MMO to be as polished as possible, not be rushed out simply so you can stop being hyped, length of development has nothing to do with how hyped I am, or how much I want to play the game, and how I think it looks. Especially with an MMO. With an MMO I don't want it to be rushed out.@PrimeSynergy said:Don't even play that card. Pushing a game back doesn't mean that it's going to be more polished either. The release date and how long it's been in development have absolutely no effect on how I think the game looks. It's your own fault if you're somebody who gets overhyped with unrealistic expectations simply because something has been in development for a long time
We just got a E3 trailer with a bunch of features and gameplay footage yesterday.@CL60 said:

See above, and theres a gameplay hands on at E3.are they making a movie or a game? because it really looks like to me they are making a movie.
If they gameplay is so terrible that you can't show it in a trailer at this point. Give up an release a 2hr CGI movie to recover your cash.
I would be very surprised if something comparable to the Taral V Walkthrough didn't make itself shown on the floor of E3 (being such a highly publicized convention) for people to get their hands on. Stay tuned for game play footage of similar nature.
@tourgen: Some "old gameplay" from PAX East can be found here on GiantBomb in the form of the Taral V Walkthrough (16 Minute Run). It is staged, it is marketing - but if you can take out the employee bias it did look enjoyable to me - and a majority of attendees at PAX thought so as well. This build was, of course, several times old by the time it hit the floor of PAX East back in March 2011 and has gone over some decidedly different "improvements" since then. I would be very surprised if something comparable to the Taral V Walkthrough didn't make itself shown on the floor of E3 (being such a highly publicized convention) for people to get their hands on. Stay tuned for game play footage of similar nature. There was also leaked footage of beta play that probably can be found. It looked rather lonely and simple, though the story elements were still good. That again was an old build. In general - it is best not to let any gameplay feature strictly guide your choice until the game is released. People, especially marketing, can angle whatever they see fit. This is the whole point of GB or other trust-worthy game review sites to deliver an unbiased opinion.
Hype and Hate. Just fillers until the concrete stuff lands.
I can't really give you an answer, but I think it's because of how the two games are being handled PR wise. SWTOR is given these grandiose trailers with new info every week and so on and so on. You may even get a big announcement every month or so. It gives off the impression a ton of progress is being made, but at the same time with nothing resembling a release date or anything even close to it it's hard to really feel any of that progress if that makes sense. GW2 is given maybe a small snippet here and small snippet there and maybe a big announcement every few months if that. It's like a stripper. It's teasing you by revealing piece by piece so you'll stay tuned for the whole ride. Also, I think GW2 is getting more of a pass just because of the numbers of risks it is taking by trying to be so radically different instead of just another "right click this dude" game.@PrimeSynergy: I do not understand how people can feel this way about TOR and not about GW2? Just out of curiousity.
I can't really say it's fair per se, but I can understand why it is what it is
I want to play this game. I'm going to give it a chance. But after all this time I'm sick and tired of nothing but "trailers"
and you can't even give us at least a speculated release date.
fuck you, give us something else. Better be glad this is star wars or your wonderful game woulda fell off almost anyones list long ago.
This trailer was a huge disappointment. I'm still pumped about the game, but after being strung along one E3 after the next I expected a hell of a a lot more than a pre-rendered trailer that just strung together bits of the two previous trailers and STILL didn't give a release date. On top of this is the fact that you'll only be able to buy a digital copy of TOR through Origin. Thanks for limiting consumer options while STILL not giving us the one thing we want, Bioware.
I find those reasonings hollow - no insult to you, though I can see if all the sums of the details add up into enough of a "buy". It is simply odd to me that the one that does present "more" (TOR) is being yelled at for doing so. That being said, I suppose for some - it could fall into the realm of ridiculous hype - to "look at what we have" thrown at one's face. So, in a sense - poor PR as you said. But hype is a personal perception (and marketing tool, which inherently makes it trumpeted by the devil, Bobby Boucher) that can be filtered, at least that is how I see it.
In the end, GW2 was announced a year before TOR and both have yet to announce a release date. (Watch GW2 announce one on the E3 floor and shut me up, heh). Regardless, when the game comes out - it will matter little. Unless you feel PR is fucking with you on a personal level, rather then just fucking with everyone in general as they are designed to do, I'd hope most people would buy the game on its quality and nothing else.
Part of me knows this has little to do with the game (peek at some elements, different combat styles, the spaceship arcade thing, a few characters), but another part just loves seeing the eye candy.
I totally get why people feel strung out, though. It's strange to hear about a game so far in advance it's almost like the proverbial carrying of a torch, even though I guess we could just shelve any enthusiasm we might have and enjoy the free light show until we have something to critically evaluate.
From what I've seen so far, I don't want them to be close to finishing. I hope they put more time into it and get good beta feedback so they don't wind up doing a running battle trying to fix things post release. I guess yet another part of me doesn't want Bioware to implode.
I really hope this isn't a hit, its obviously part of the MMO movement wow stirred up and now everyone wants to get a money machine out there... sorry to say but this probably won't be a better game than wow, star wars has alot of lore but not even close to Warcraft. I wish companies would stop trying to get these things running, and keep innovating. I gotta say E3 is VERY disappointing so far, i don't think theres any games i'm looking forward to... maybe dark souls?? I wish the witcher 2 patch would show up already... i hate broken games.
why do people fight over whether this game should be fun or not? why don't we as gamers try and see that hopefully ALL games that come out are fun? why do we try and pick sides, condemning the other half to unhappiness?
i don't know if i will personally play it but i wish this game the best, and for those who want some star wars in their mmo, i hope that it excites them and lets them be happy.
