I've been playing a lot of Starcraft 2 recently alongside posting frequently on the lawless Starcraft 2 EU forums and this is where my problem begins: I went to the forums.

I should have learned to stay away from such things after viewing the World of Warcraft forums but I thought to myself merrily "this'll be different, it's an RTS not an MMO, these are skilful players, not casual MMO players who do everything with the mouse" ...boy I couldn't be more wrong. It seems Blizzard advertising Starcraft 2 on the World of Warcraft websites has had a major negative effect on the forums, as the World of Warcraft players had dragged themselves out of those raids to come and have a try at Blizzard's new game, finding it wasn't like Warcraft at all as Blizzard didn't hold their hand throughout the whole of it. So what do they do? They do what they always do and proceed to make at least 40 threads a day on the same topics about how they should be able to gain achievements on Casual difficulty or that Blizzard ripped them off or that macros are too hard. These are continuously piled up next to the streams of posts about balancing, the lack of chat channels and features which are missing or they would like implemented.

I was previously content with the game until these people made me realise what was missing or what could have been and I have now been brainwashed and accepted into their whining-cult, complaining about how terrible the custom game system is or how "Blizzard only wants money!!!!!11111"

Next time I get a new game it'll be different, next time I’ll ignore the community forums.... I hope.

Anytime someone gets behind a keyboard they seem to lose any shred of critical thinking that they may have, at one time, posessed. It will be the same when Reach comes out-all the MW2 kiddies will be flooding the forums with threads about how Reach sucks because its not like MW2.Yea...the reason for that is because its not the same game.

You should only go to game specific official forums for tech support and mods, especially when it's a multiplayer game.

Official forums for very popular games tend to be horrible, find some fan sites or something.

if you want something resembling good discussion of SC2 try teamliquid.net, I can't guarantee the information will be good, but generally the level of discussion is higher than the official forums.

Arrr, you just have to know how to navigate the forums. I've sailed them for 5 years, the storms of whines and the reefs of elitism no longer hold any danger to me ship. A true captn' learn to steer past all that bullshit and fish out only the necessary information while ignoring the trolls.

In other words the brain kind of learns to automatically filter about about 95% of the official board posts over time and you can easily enjoy the forums then.

Fuck those people, man when I played Starcraft 1 back in the day it was me and a select few friends but now every single person I know who plays Wow is currently playing Starcraft 2.

I don't see anything wrong with new players, the more the merrier but I hate seeing bitchy hormone induced raiders flipping out because of some issue they have with the game just like they would with Wow.

Seriously, the WoW forums was one of the contributing factors of me stopping WoW.  I was content with my chosen class until I went to the forums and found out that I made a terrible choice and why on earth would I want to play as that class and so on.
