Stargate Online TGC was an online version of the Stargate themed card game operated by Daybreak Game Company (then called SoE). The game allowed you to buy expansion packs and passes to enter tournaments which would give packs as prizes. Many of the features of the game were used much later and more successfully in the Blizzard card game Hearthstone. The game was shut down with two weeks notice causing all cards purchased with real money to be lost. Payments for virtual cards and tournament passes were still being taken on the day the game was shut down.
There were two expansions to the base game, System Lords and Rise of the Ori. Rise of the Ori was only ever released in the online game and the physical cards never sold.
While the game was running it was possible to trade your virtual cards in for real ones. The only way to do this was by collecting a complete set of the cards which they would then send you a physical copy of. This promotion was called "Through the Gate".
