I have a crapy old pc at my folks. Was wondering if you guys had some recommendations no games that are not to taxing.
I run torchlight ok on low settings.
Steam

A digital distribution service owned by Valve Corporation. Originally created to distribute Valve's own games, Steam has since become the de facto standard for digital distribution of PC games.
Good low spec games on Steam
Plants vs. Zombies. That's the only game I can think of besides Peggle that your PC could run. If your pc can only run torchlight on low settings, then I doubt it will be able to run alien swarm, but you can always give it a shot considering it's free and all.
World of Goo, Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition, and Civilization III are the first to come to mind. Most games from 2003 and earlier should be alright.
@illmatic19: If he can only run Torchlight on low, it is doubtful that Alien Swarm would be playable on that machine.
Commander Keen pack
Machinarium
And Yet it Moves
In fact, there are heaps of good low-spec games on Steam. It would actually be cool if you could search Steam by games that will run on your hardware.

It's not steam, but if you're looking for games that will run on a toaster and don't care about their age, Good Old Games is a great(and cheap!) resource.

The Telltale games (Sam and Max, Monkey Island episodes) should be relatively low-spec, and are a riot. I'd also recommend the X-Com pack, the Broken Sword trilogy, and you possibly might be able to run Morrowind.

Does the video card have Pixel Shader support? I can't run some of the listed games on my main machine because I have shitty video card, but if your video card supports it you should be okay.
How about GTA2? I'm not sure you can find it in the steam store by itself, but I have seen it on there whenever there is a sale on all R* games in one package with it's original price listed as free. If it isn't on steam as an individual game then it is available for free on the Rockstar Games website.

Plants vs Zombies
Half-Life
Any of the LucasArts adventure games (Indy & the Fate of Atlantis & Loom are both particularly great, IMO)
Torchlight (which sucked me back in just last night. Fairly low-spec and even has a "netbook mode")
And not Steam, but I have a hard time not recommending Blizzard's back catalog, since they hold up so well and were low-spec even at release :
Diablo II
Starcraft
Warcraft III
Any of the six of those should keep you busy for quite some time. :)
Buy Total Annihilation off GOG. Until they or Steam release any of the KKND or Dark Reign games, you won't be needing anything else for a while.
Though you probably couldn't go wrong with one of the Sierra adventure packs, like Space Quest Collection or King's Quest Collection off either Steam or GOG.
