Sturm

Advance Wars

Sturm is the mysterious leader of the Black Hole Army from Advance Wars. Information about him is deliberately vague, but his abilities include pulling meteors from outer space and producing single minded clones of existing commanding officers. His ultimate goal is world domination.  
 
In Advance Wars, Sturm has different stats for Campaign Mode and Versus Mode. The difference is the emphasis on offense or defense, and how much damage his Meteor Strike causes on impact.

Campaign CO Stats:

• 120% attack and 80% defense
• Movement Cost is 1 over all terrain
• Not affected by rain
• CO Power: Meteor Strike, a meteor crashes down on units in a 5x5 diamond pattern causing 8HP damage. 10% offense and defense boost

 
Versus CO Stats:

• 80% attack and 120% defense
• Movement Cost is 1 over all terrain
• Not affected by rain
• CO Power: Meteor Strike, a meteor crashes down on units in a 5x5 diamond pattern causing 4HP damage. 10% offense and defense boost
  

 

Advance Wars Campaign

Sturm attempts to engineer a world war between Orange Star, Blue Moon, Green Earth, and Yellow Comet from behind the scenes so he can move in once they've weakened each other. He uses clones of Andy to make it appear that Orange Star is invading other nations. However, his plans are discovered by Sonja and eventually brought out of the shadows to confront Orange Star in a massive battle. He's defeated but escapes before he can be caught.

Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising

Sturm returns in Advance Wars 2 with a new appearance and significantly more powerful. Unlike Advance Wars, he has the same stats in and out of campaign mode. His dossier also reveals that he's an invader from another world bent on taking over everything.
 
CO Stats:

• 120% attack and defense.
• Movement cost of 1 for all terrain.
• Not affected by rain and less affected by snow.
• CO Power: None
• Super Co Power: Meteor Strike, a meteor crashes down on units in a 5x5 diamond pattern (missile size) causing 8HP damage. Attack is boosted by 20% and defense is boosted by 30%
  

 

Advance Wars 2 Campaign

Sturm changes his invasion plans by attacking the four nations directly with the help of four new COs. He recruits Hawke, Adder, Lash, and Flak to conquer each country and steal as much as they can to fund Black Hole's invasion force. Despite considerable headway and the use of factories capable of producing units en masse his subordinates fail. With a last ditch effort, he lures the four nations to his base armed with a deathray and a launch platform capable of firing world ending missiles.
 
When Sturm's deathray is destroyed, he tries to commit suicide by detonating the missiles anyway to kill everyone in the area. He's unsuccessful when Hawke appears, kills him with Black Storm, and assumes command of Black Hole.
 

Trivia

• Sturm's only presence in Advance Wars: Dual Strike is in the form of a large map shaped like his AW2 face. Players can unlock this map if they have Advance Wars 2 in the DS's Game Boy Advance slot while playing Dual Strike
