The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s version 1.2 patch is not the savior we have been looking for. Cue the sound of a sad violin.

Bethesda Game Studios issuing patches for its games that end up fixing some things while also conveniently breaking others is not a new occurrence, but what’s being broken with version 1.2 may encourage you to hold off a bit.

I’m not going to hold dragons flying backwards against the game--that sounds (and looks!) awesome.

The real problem is for players who invested into magic resistance for their character, as the patch appears to make all of those now null and void. These even applies to NPCs with innate magical attributes.

The low-resolution texture issue affecting the Xbox 360 version when installed appears to be inconsistently fixed, too.

There’s a message board thread keeping tabs on the reported issues, but Bethesda has not issued an official statement on the matter. When that inevitably changes, I’ll update this story with the company's comments. Report your own issues below.

The only statement you will get from them will be "we´re looking into it". They are not exactly good about support or anything once a game has been released.

Funny thing is, Todd Howard mentioned some "faster way" they were going to have in order to patch the game or at least adjust some internal values.. well, if 2 weeks is a "fast" turnaround time for a patch/hotfix that doesn´t really fix stuff, then I don´t know if he was right.

Even though I'm on 360, I'm going to hold off until another patch hits. I don't want to bork things at all.

Luckily, this means I can play more Dark Souls since that patch just hit, as well as Alice, Shadows of the Damned, and Deus Ex. = D

I'm glad I stuck to my original plan, get the GOTY edition next year. It was tempting though, some Black Friday deals had Skyrim for $40.

Is there anyplace for me to air grievances about dragons running away from battle? I suppose I could wait until Festivus, but so far I've killed a handful of dragons and had at least three of them run(or fly) away from me before I could turn them into a big skeleton with clipping issues.

Yeah, I'm in no hurry to play Skyrim. I pre-ordered it. Pre-downloaded it. Played for four hours. Have not touched it since launch day. It's fine and everything, but it's not like it's going anywhere and it'll just be better (at least a bit) later on. And, frankly, I' not all that impressed by the "amazing and stunning graphics" everyone keeps wetting themselves over (frankly, it looks a bit jank like any other Bethesda game on the PC looks).

There are a ton of games to get to right now - a lot that may not have a long multiplayer community life in them even, so I'm focusing on enjoying those while they can still be enjoyed. Skyrim will still be sitting there next winter, for me.

A Bethesda fix that doesn't break something else isn't a Bethesda fix.  On my game everyone in Riverwood is frozen in place.  They don't move or go to sleep, they are static like it's 1995.

To be fair, a big chunk of that wait time has to do with Microsoft/Sony cert. I'm guessing why they didn't release the PC patch earlier was because they want the patches to be released at around the same time? In any case, this won't have much of an effect on me since my character is basically invincible regardless but I would be interested in hearing from Bethesda how exactly they managed to create a glitch like this.

I think its hilarious how people are stupid enough to put up with this shit from this company. This kind of inexplicable brokenness that is always associated with Bethesda games is simply inexcusable, and the fact that they consistently ship fucked up games or patches that fuck games up even more is just pathetic.

It's a Bethesda game, you can't get rid of the glitches! Even the glitches have glitches! I know there was more than one occasion when I'd be attacked by an invincible bandit. Neither I nor a dragon could do any damage to the guy.

I find it comical reviewers still give this piece of shit of a game 10 scores despite the apparent bugs it has, any lesser game would have been bombarded and ridiculed. Yes the game is great as far as gaming goes but the technical quality is unacceptable. We're basically beta testers paying to play the Skyrim so Bethesda could find the bugs and patch since their understaffed and they need us to help them find the bugs.

Despite my views, I will buy this game but I'll only buy it at discounted price - the GOTY edition - and only then the major bugs will be ironed out.

I wonder how people would have reacted if these issues had been in a Call of Duty game, lol, sure the tone would have been a lot different.
