Even after only spending ten hours or so with the game, I can think of a few that I'll be installing as soon as a quality version is put out by the modding community:

• Enhanced spell effects/post processing to make those fireballs and explosions look even more badass.
• New & custom spells, like we used to be able to do in Oblivion. I really miss that.
• An inventory management and sorting mod...because right now, well, the inventory is just a giant list of stuff.

What about you guys?

Inventory Management sounds about right, but I'll be mostly looking for the Graphic upgrades.

Also Elf Bitches and Hoes the mod because why not?

nude mod and a new inventory mod where it catagorizes things better. But the nude mod is a must..

High res textures.

I'd love a map mod. 2D with roads marked.

One that fixes the shitty UI and adds something as basic as hotkeys.

I really want a hardcore mode. It'd be similar to New Vegas' one, only instead of worrying about radiation you'd have to worry about exposure to the cold and freezing to death.
 
I was actually kind of surprised to see something like this isn't already implemented.

A UI fix because fuck, it is terrible. Game had 250k concurrent players on Steam - you'd think that'd be enough to justify hiring maybe one PC tester. My favourite bit has to be how the on-screen key prompts don't change if you change your key bindings, so you're left with absolutely no idea how anything works. PC games figured that shit out about 20 years ago.

There are hotkeys. Go in your favorites list, press the number you want to use as your hotkey while hovering over the item you want.

I'm not sure that I want any mods yet. Maybe an infinite inventory mod for later playthroughs, especially if I play through as a heavy armor guy at some point. Definitely not modding my first playthrough.

Status effects. Like in Fallout on Hard mode. Hunger, sleep deprived and so on. I would really love it if you could only stay out in the cold for so long with out finding warmth.

A better status page than the Active effects menu.

Also one to make the D-pad on my gamepad work and switch between favorites properly or just a simple radial menu!

That survival mod one guy here speculated about. That'd be great.

More armor, weapons, custom houses, new hairstyles, dungeons, all of that stuff.

Already succesfully modded the graphics a little in mine, and I've never done so before in any games ever before, I found the whole process surprisingly easy and can't wait to see what a master at modding could do in the future.

Here are a few things I've done to mine.

I've increased how far I can see trees and how far away those trees keep their intricate details plus I've increase the trees depth of shadows, I've increased how far my personal radius to see lower foliage is too (grass and plants with collectible items in them etc) so that I can't see the edge of my moving grass radius over my horizon anywhere that I look (the original settings put in by Bethesda kind of broke the immersion for me personally, really wanted to improve it so much), the water shadows and reflections etc. and just generally spruced the beautiful graphical banzai tree that is Skyrim.

I'm sure there's more to be done, expecially since I've yet to get any graphical slow down on my AMD 6870 card.

I have noticed an understandable but very marginal increase in card temperature but I just turned the card fan up like 5% faster and now it's back to optimal so won't be a problem, especially since this game was designed generally for console use, so plenty of room for graphical improvement to manuever.

Nude mods, oh wait there's already like 5000 of them brb.

UI stuff for me, also more races that don't look like hobo's or cat's with fur that looks like a rug.

I mean pretty regularly when i click something lets say in a barter screen it closes it completely.

Am I the only one that keeps hitting ESC to exit menus only to have it open a menu?

@Barrock: Yeah i did that a lot at first, also don't try to open the menu while sprinting (Alt+tab) :D

I would like to see a mod that lets you kill the children in Skyrim. I would also like to see a mod that lets a married couple have a child.

FIX THE GOD DAMNED UI. Switching spells is a MESS.

Something to fix the inventory. Not a fan of the current one. 

I'd love a mod that gave the sneak attack bonus to magic. I crouch around everywhere but I'm also a dual magic user and the stealth just feels outright wasteful.

I'm just waiting for the mods to stop being stupid crap the mega-picky-nerds feel like taking out of the game. I swear it's like they just want to play Morrowind. Take out fast travel, take out kill animations, take out the fun, etc.

In Fallout new Vegas and the Dragon Ages nudity and hardcore sex mods are always nice. The prostitution mod I had in New Vegas was especially entertaining.

This, some items look great but others look like they fell out of Oblivion, some consistency would be nice.

I wouldn't mind a mod that gets rid of psychic guards, which I could have sworn Bethesda said wouldn't be an issue anymore. It's certainly not as bad as it was in Oblivion, but if I kill a lone guard silently, the entire town's police force shouldn't be rushing in a second later.

• A mod so Ore re-appears after you mine it in like a week or so.

And I want the "tell companion to go to the nearest town and sell all he/she holds" -mod. You can't say it enough, the creators of Torchlight were geniuses.

I want a camp set up mod, since I'm playing this game properly (ie no fast travel) I would like the opportunity to pitch a camp in the middle of frickin no where and go all Bear Grylls on Skyrim.

Werewolf fixes, make them useful. I'd love to have a Beast Mode that actually modifies my attack. Like whatever weapon I had in my hand double the attack Berserk Rage style. Also health regen. I'd love to really put up a fight and put the hurt on dragons and mammoths.

Just let me loot dudes too. I feel bad clearing out a bandit cave and not being able to check chests.

UI fixes...eh...I'm playing on a 360 pad so whatever.

I really want to be able to drag my inventory items around. At least let me drag the equipment onto an avatar. All that could mean is.

drag item name to avatar=hitting equip button

Just something I miss from classic pc rpgs.

A lot of good ideas in this thread. 
 
The most important for me is the interface (I'm using a mouse, i shouldn't have to scrolls through the main menu/perk trees/inventory using WASD). Otherwise I don't really feel like I need anything, I will browse the mods in the future and pick the interesting stuff.

Another vote for high resolution texture pack. Might be a while until we see one.

There's a mod on Skyrim nexus that turns the map into google street view pretty much.
