"The Order stands not as any sort of failure, but as the very definition of a tragically flawed video game." 0

REVIEW: The Order 1886 [PS4]Written By Tyler Pederson Sometimes reviews come easily. Often, I finish playing a game and have concise feelings on it, can put that to paper, and go from there. When I finished playing The Order 1886, I can’t say that was the case. That’s not a bad thing, and by no means is The Order a bad game, it’s simply not a very good one. It’s unfortunate that the game was put under such a spotlight, because taken for exactly what it is, a new first pa...

Great looking graphics does not make a good game 0

The Order: 1886 calls back to Uncharted: Drakes Fortune in a few ways. They are both graphical powerhouses and they both have only like 3 enemy types for the entire game. But the biggest divergence is this game has to be the most linear game I've played this year. Before we get into that I want to bring up the narrative which has you playing as Sir Galahad a knight of a order that is trying to swash a rebellion and creatures of the night. Yup Werewolf's are a issue in this world and that tidbit...

Short, but very fun & great looking/sounding experience - and I loved the story/setting! Worth playing for anyone @ $30 0

Short (took me 12 hours, but I played on hard, replayed battles I liked a few times, and definitely took my time absorbing the atmosphere - most will get 8-10 hours out of it, I'd wager), but very fun & a FANTASTIC looking/sounding experience. And, I loved the story & setting!Worth playing for anyone @ $30 or less, for sure. Just wait until you find a good deal on it. I guarantee this game will get a sequel, and that sequel will be much better received (they'll be able to flesh out t...

From the Bench: The Order - 1886 "The Order is a stereotypical supermodel; gorgeous in close-up, but dangerously thin." 0

Ever since the YouTube video showing what was supposedly a five and a half hour play through of The Order: 1886 was posted, a lot of ink has been spilled debating the relationship between length and value in video games. Whatever side of that issue you fall on, two things are almost certainly true about The Order. The first is that it is, without a doubt, the most visually stunning game ever released on a console. The second is that a half-baked plot, unsatisfying gunplay, and an overall dearth ...

    Short but sweet 0

I think this is probably the best looking game I've ever played, the characters, environment and lighting were all amazing. The story was interesting and well acted, though it was absolutely too short, not just the game but the actual story, they could have added more to make it more believable.I really don't like console shooters and this one is no different, it worked well enough and there was enough interesting weapons and variety; I just hate aiming with a controller so that is just me; there...

    The Order: 1886 0

The Order: 1886 offers little nuance or creativity to an old formula, just a fresh coat of paint. The Order: 1886 might be the best looking game I’ve seen running on a current generation console. The characters are life-like and very responsive in and out of cut-scenes. The environments are incredibly well detailed down to the writing on the back of photographs. Victorian-era London is very well realized. The city is dirty and hazy from the enveloping smog of nearby factories. The streets...

This game looks great for sure, yet it falls back too much on its production values. 0

When the PS4 was released one of the games that was heavily hyped coming for the system was The Order: 1886. I remember being quite intrigued by the game's presentation. The screenshots did look amazing and my interest was piqued. However, after the game's release, majority opinion at the time pretty much claimed that the game looked great, even amazing to many others; but the game play really didn't have a whole lot to offer. Thus, the game was basically stated to be "all beauty and no brains"....

    5/10 0

+Amazing visuals: especially for an early launch year game. Plenty of small details to pour over.+Acting and mo-cap/animation+Easy platinum?-Film grain, motion blur and low frame-rate can make gameplay sometimes disorienting-Run of the mill shooter: few enemy and weapon types, basic, linear level design.-Generally basic and uninteresting story/characters....

The Order: 1886 - The Knights of the Round never looked so good 0

The Order, developed by Ready at Dawn and SCE Santa Monica and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, is a third person cover shooter set in industrial revolution London in 1886. It is an alternate history with an organization of knights openly fighting to keep order between man and half-breeds, primarily presented as Lycans (werewolves). The conflict has accelerated technology, giving rise to automatic weapons, wireless communicators, and other creative items. The story follows Sir Galahad, o...

The prime example of how graphics aren't everything. In other words, style over substance. 1

Here we have yet another attempt to be a movie-video game hybrid, this time from Ready at Dawn. Only about half of the game is actual gameplay, the rest is very long cutscenes or long stretches of the player character suddenly slowing down to a snail's pace walking to a certain place. Adding to this is a forced letterbox view (aka black bars at the top and bottom of the screen) at all times; on top of that, some cutscenes stretch out over entire chapters. Half of the gameplay (which is less than...

    The Order 1886 Review 0

Throughout the last console generation, first party published Playstation 3 exclusives kept that console afloat. They were the reason why the PS3 was my preferred console and it was a rarity for any of them to be less than great. The Last Of Us, the Uncharted series, Journey, Puppeteer, the Rachet And Clank entries, the triplet of Resistance games, the Pixeljunks, God Of War 3, and Little Big Planet. All amazing. So, it's been rather strange that since the release of the Playstation 4, the exclu...

The dawn of a new order 0

Before I start my review let’s just get one thing clear: I like story-driven games. In fact I love story-driven games. Even though most games have disappointing endings to their stories the question of what happens next can be one enticing carrot at the end of the stick. I also have respect for game developers that are not afraid to focus on world building and story over gameplay. That’s not because I hate gameplay, if that was the case then why would I even play video games to begin...

A game that tries hard however with over egged ideas and struggling ideas falls very short. 0

The Order 1886, is one of these games which is both interesting to experience however suffers from tedious game play, a boring cast of characters and a mix mash of game play styles, what could have been one of the best new IP’s in the Playstation library feels like the developers wanted to add more to an overcooked idea. In concept alone the Order 1886 is a great idea. Taking known characters from the Knights of the roundtable, throwing those known characters into the British industrial r...

Do not stray from the beaten path 0

You walk down a long hallway, a linear path if you will. It’s a nice looking hallway but you feel its missing something, maybe you could try going through one of these doors, there are many doors in this hallway. To no avail, stay on your path, its a waste of time trying to stray from the beaten path so why bother? Turns out that all the nice looking doors are all locked anyway, so you must continue down this long hallway to have some sort of purpose or fulfillment. With limited room to exp...
