So this game is coming out next month and I have not heard a peep about it (intentional pun). Other than a gameplay demo, there was a trailer that released today that featured the CGI content and the FMV stuff. The game is reportedly short enough to be finished in one sitting and will be priced at $15. I was wondering if anyone was interested or even remembered that this still existed.

The game reminds me of Quantum Break in that it is trying to blend FMV and CGI in an effort to be cinematic. The FMV in my opinion does not do the CGI any favors and makes it feel rather low res (real life is the best graphics after all). However, the gameplay demo does show that the game does some nice stuff to transition between the CGI and FMV stuff. I'm curious as to how this game will turn out.

I remember this, because during last Pax(?) it was on the show floor and both Patrick and Jeff were amazed at how terrible it was. Jeff talked about it on the bombcast. I definitely want to see them play it, just to see if it really is that bad.

Yeah, all I really heard after the E3 reveal was the Bombcast and Beastcast feedback that it was terrible at Pax.

Finally! I've read all the books and listened to the radio plays. I'm getting such a thrill to finally seeing The Quiet Man's debut in modern media. I hope they get his relationship with Silent Lady right, it's imperative that they get just the right amount weird tension. Which is key to Quiet Man's need to go out and fight to relieve his frustration in the only way he knows how.

Everything I've seen about this game looks incredibly bizarre. The level of clunkiness and lack of polish to the gameplay makes me think of a SWERY project like Deadly Premonition, and while the FMV cutscenes don't seem really bad or anything like that, I just don't see how both elements compliment each other. I'm kind of intrigued for it to come out just so I can watch the SBFP play it for me.

PS4 console exclusive. That's game, set, and match. Shut it down Microsoft.

Watching this was a real journey, from amused disbelief to bored disbelief to angry disbelief to finally, a deep sadness. Imogen Heap deserved so much better than this.

I mean, it has a fascinating quality other poor games can't reach.

@fezrock: It might kill more than just Vinny. By the end of their Extra Life playthrough I felt like I had just woke up from a fever dream, nausea and all. It's baffling that this thing exists.

Have you seen the GB West version when it really went off the rails? Talk about fever dreams.

It's interesting seeing the differences between GB's take with someone that's probably contractually obligated to love it.

I could go for a Quick Look that has 15 minutes of mute gameplay and then 15 minutes of playing with the audio track on. A whole playdate though? No thanks, the Extra Life streams showed the one good moment (bald dude’s head parkour) and the rest was tedious trash, that was only saved by the baffled reactions from both East and West...and even then I felt like dying by the end of the East playthrough.

Vinny has a soft spot for cheesy FMV games, so it says a lot when he gets pissed off at one.

So is this game basically modern art in video game form?

To be fair, I think a lot of that tedium was due to the fact that the plot was completely impossible to follow. The fighting sections were... also bad, but I think would have been considerably more tolerable if the cutscenes were actually something you could look forward to instead of several minutes of mouths moving in silence.
