If I had a PC good enough to run it, no. Mods help a lot.

Would you buy The Witcher 2 on consoles?
The combat's broken? Last I checked it was just challenging. If they fix the combat, absolutely.

If the console versions got extra content than sure but otherwise no only because Ive already got on the PC
Definitely, I've managed to get it running on my computer, but ultimately I'd rather be playing it in front of my TV. Doing so with my PC is just not practical with my set-up. I also (likely) wouldn't have to worry about overheating or crashes/freezing, something that is constantly in the back of my mind when playing anything on my broken-ass PC - not exactly condusive to playing an RPG I just want to be absorbed by and play for hours at a time.

Don't get me wrong; it's not perfect, but it's far from broken.@zoner said:I don't think they said broken, just that it was the worst part of the game--and based on what I've seen and heard, it is.@Kombat said:It won't be the first time the GB staff has been wrong on something.@Enigma777 said:That's broken according to half the Giantbomb staff. The combat's broken? Personally I think AC's combat system is 'broken' because it's way too easy, but people seem to like that. Same thing with Batman
@HatKing said:To me broken means it just doesn't work. Like Fallout New Vegas is partially broken. Though I guess if you take it as just done very poorly or wrong, it's in the eye of the beholder. My suggestion is to watch the Quick Look. That'll give you a good idea.@Turambar said:Ryan says in the latest Bombcast that it's broken. Why not play it on a console. The game plays much better with a controller, minus having to pause to access the journal, map, ect. With a console port, you'd have to assume that CDP would streamline accessing them a bit. CDP would make some dough if people buy the console game perhaps leading to more money spent on their next project, Witcher 3 perhaps? Plus going through certification might force them to release a more stable and bug free game than what they've released so far.
Those are positives, but people's fear may be that if the console port does well, Wither 3 will be a Dragon Age II scenario.
also its been said many many times, hook your PC up to your TV via HDMI, plug in your 360 controller, win. This is not a relevant complaint not to play a pc game that has controller support. My PC is now a 360 with a HD 5850, 4gb ram, and 4 core AMD phenom.
But yeah, I definitely wouldn't call The Witcher's combat broken but it's definitely what's brining the game down.
Sure will. Funny I just had a conversation with a friend of mine about this very subject today. Will be kinda cool if they did but frankly I don't see it happening any time soon. CD Projekt have shown little to no interest in console development. If they do make a console version then I see them outsourcing it to a different company much like what Bioware did with the console versions of DAO.
@Turambar said:Not once you know what you're doing. There is just zero hand holding in the first Act/Prologue. I started a second play through on hard and haven't had any problems with them sans all my abilities and armor. The thing with the combat is you cannot, especially in those early chapters, just play it like you would any other action game or rpg(all magic or all swords etc). You absolutely have to use a mix of all the tools they give you or you'll just die...a lot. That means using bombs, setting traps, using magic AND your sword.@zoner said:I don't think they said broken, just that it was the worst part of the game--and based on what I've seen and heard, it is.@Kombat said:It won't be the first time the GB staff has been wrong on something.@Enigma777 said:That's broken according to half the Giantbomb staff. The combat's broken? I'd definitely recommend any console players looking for a great rpg to pick it up if the rumor is true. Just don't expect it to be a cakewalk (at least, intially).
@Turambar said:The combat is fine and it's challenging. It's not that half arsed sped up enemies-magically-spawning-in-mid-air-coming-at-you-in-waves bullshit which Dragging Ragequit 2 was all about, it's challenging, timing based and pretty well balanced. Armour acts like armour on a person instead of armour plating on a tank - ie too many hits on you in succession and it's useless/torn through. There is a slight consideration for the modern gaming crowd in that you heal over time because Geralt is a self healing mutant, but that won't help you much if you get hit too many times in a row.@zoner said:I don't think they said broken, just that it was the worst part of the game--and based on what I've seen and heard, it is.@Kombat said:It won't be the first time the GB staff has been wrong on something.@Enigma777 said:That's broken according to half the Giantbomb staff. The combat's broken? On any case if there is a console version then E3 might shed some more light on that. If we don't hear anything about it at E3 then just upgrade your gaming PC because you won't see a console version for Witcher 2 any time soon.
@Enigma777 said:It has a few issues outside of design that are dragging it down - the magic and block buttons are super unresponsive right now, to the point where I often have to tap them twice before anything will happen, even with full energy. The combat's broken? Huge patch coming out today though so hopefully that'll iron out the minor kinks. Also meant to improve performance slightly. I'm happy with my near 30FPS at medium/high at 1600x900 but an extra 10% would make the drops to 25FPS in areas with heavy foliage a lot less noticeable.
I already own it on PC, so no, but if they can make it run and look good then great for all the rest of you!
I have my doubts though. Not to be too much of a troll, but this shows what I mean :P

No, I've already got a PC that can run it perfectly well.
But I would still like to see it happen, it's perfectly suited to consoles and arguably even plays better using the 360 pad for PC. I'd love for the series to gain more popularity.. perhaps we'll finally get the rest of the books translated.
I will, my pc can barely run it, it seems, but I rather have it on Xbox without my pc possibly dying midgame.
Um yes I would as the game looks bad-ass man I hope it comes to 360, after all it can be played with a 360 controller on PC so we should have seen this coming but now I have another reason to watch E3 HELL YEA!

I honestly pretty much love the combat, it's great. I'm not sure if it's harder to play with a gamepad, but with m&k it's also pretty easy to time dodging and attacking. And once again, "the combat is NOT broken".
And I don't think you can see how good or bad the combat is based on the way Ryan is fighting, because he wasn't used to it (and that shows, sorry sir :)).

@zoner said:There's nothing wrong with the combat at all. In fact, I think the combat is one of the best aspects of the game. So glad CDP didn't pussy out and make it simple like Assassin's Creed or its ilk; it's actually challenging and requires a bit of thought and skill from the player. All the tools are there at your disposal, it's up to the player to learn and master them (or bump the game down to easy if they're finding it too hard). I can't say I'm surprised to hear that the GB staff don't like it!@HatKing said:To me broken means it just doesn't work. Like Fallout New Vegas is partially broken.
