What would you do to survive?
The game provides an experience seen through the perspective of the survivors of war. You are responsible for the lives of your survivors, a group of strangers living in an abandoned building by circumstance. Each day you go through a day and night cycle and each cycle forces you to prioritize how you spend your time. During the day, you are responsible for taking care of the survivors by providing the basic necessities to feed, treat, and shelter (i.e. reinforcing your home, crafting, furnishing, etc.). At night, you send out one of your survivors to various locations in the city to scavenge resources. What you decide to bring back is limited by the inventory of the survivor you send out, so choose wisely.
An interesting highlight of the game are the decisions that you make during your nightly excursions. While the ultimate goal is to survive to the end of the war, but at what cost and how far are you willing to go? Each unique location offers a set of challenges both tactical and moral. For example, one location brings you to the house of an elderly husband and wife; do you decide to raid their house to steal their resources? Another location brings you to the marketplace where you may encounter what could be a rape scene, do you intervene at risk to your life or allow it to proceed as you go elsewhere to gather more resources.
I’m about 10 hours into this game and am going through my fourth or fifth run. I’ve succeeded with all survivors making it to the end of the war about once. I do recommend this game if you are looking for something a bit different.
