I saw them patching in some of these options and I was curious who would actually want to try them out. Good luck! I can't imagine anyone actually getting through the game without being killed, but you're definitely better at it than I am. Which sniper rifle are you using? The Tier 1 bonus one?
This is not on Ghost Mode, which is probably what you mean by patching in options. Ghost Mode has permadeath, meaning if you die you restart from the beginning of the game. Quite frankly I'd rather not play on Ghost Mode because the only way to avoid death when things go bad is to be revived, preferably with full Physical Skills stats since then you get two revives. Plus many are showing videos of their squad not reviving them on Ghost Mode even when right near you and without taking fire, so apparently Ghost Mode introduced some really bad bugs. Since I'm only accepting results that don't involve any revives, I don't see the point of Ghost Mode.
I can see that since this guide shows how to play missions with difficult restrictions without needing reviving, it might be applicable to Ghost Mode, but due to the aforementioned bugs, I simply cannot refer to it in that way, because obviously most given the option would want to be revived, vs having to start the whole game over. That said, I've seen many say they are backing up saves in case they get the squad not reviving them bug, so this guide may be applicable to Ghost Mode in that sense.
It can take several mission attempts just to discover the best way to play them with these restrictions. The main point of this is hopefully that the viewer does not have to go through that trial and error. Thus it's a best chance tactics guide, not a bragging rights overall result, as of course I don't show the many failures before those best tactics were discovered.
The sniper rifle I'm using is just the basic M40A5, which is found in a weapon case at the safehouse you take Amaru to on the first mission. There are two of the missions above where I pick up that same rifle off corpses which have a much more powerful scope though, The Boat Lab, and Carzita's VIP List. Two things I forgot to mention above is I'm sticking to mainly non DLC weapons, save for the M1911 Golden pistol. The Unidad RPK-74 for instance is a light machine gun that has 175 vs 90 clip on the MG121, plus reloads way faster and has way better accuracy and penetration. Thus it's a bit easier to take out choppers with, so I thought it was a bit of a pay to win crutch (Season Pass DLC). The M1911 Golden I rarely use to kill with, and at the range I fire it from, most any pistol in the game would kill as well. I gotta have at least one weapon just for bling. LOL
Note that the reason I use a grenade on the target vehicle of the convoy in the Aggressive Competition mission, after using the sniper rifle to shoot the cargo vehicle driver in the Rebellion Rising mission, is the military type target vehicle in Aggressive Competition has what appears to be a bullet proof windshield. I had tried to snipe through it several times to no avail, however it could also be that it appears to be tinted, because I could not see the driver. Thus I may have just missed him. Either way, the grenade method is very effective once you know how to time it.
The Tier One bonus rifle you're referring to is the Desert Tech HTI BDC, which you get at Tier 40. As I said I already beat the game on Tier One mode and at Tier Level 1 via mission replay, but this time I'm playing on Extreme with no HUD, skill upgrades, or revives. In many ways Extreme with no HUD, upgrades, or revives is actually harder than Tier One with all those visual and skill advantages, and you die every bit as easily. I'm also only using the squad Fire command (which is kinda over powered) on story mission convoys and the wave attacks in Rebellion Rising, which is technically more of a Rebel Side Op mission than a story mission. I hate that you have to even do it. It just means Rebels interfering at times beyond that point, and I plan to use no Rebel assistance.
I'm also not using any weapons and weapon parts that are not in provinces I'm currently in or have already played through, and as usual am progressing through provinces in order of their difficulty rating. This means the most powerful scope (unless on a weap I pick up but can't save to inventory), won't be used until I get to the harder provinces. For this reason I have decided to do Pucara next, whereas I usually do Barvechos as the 4th province. They are both level 3 rated, but Pucara has a more powerful sniper scope than what I'm using now.
