    Trials Evolution

Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Apr 18, 2012

The follow up to the best-selling hit Trials HD, Trials Evolution takes motorcycle platforming to a whole new level of ridiculousness.

So, this is pretty much Little Big Planet for the 360, isn't it?

I thought it would just be more trials, which would have been fun on its own, but wow. The content editor for this game looks insane. Is anyone else here just learning this now, with only a little over a week to wait before release? If you weren't already aware, this comes out April 18th for 1200 Microsoft points.

I'm sorry that it took so long, but it's nice to see Microsoft FINALLY supporting user created content. And they can still sell DLC down the line by creating more developer tools, and some professionally made new levels that use those tools.

Have you played Little Big Planet? This is nothing like that. That's like saying inFamous 2 is like Little Big Planet because of the user generated content. This still does still look pretty damn cool though!

Hmmm, I hope the fleshed out UGC doesn't effect the quality of the singeplayer tracks.

I'm guessing you didn't play Halo 3, Halo: Reach, or any of the Forza's. User generated content is a huge part of those games.

Little Big Planet is a 2D, side-scrolling platforming game with a content editor so powerful that it allows users to create basic games in completely different genres.

Trials Evolution is a 2D, side-scrolling racing game with a content editor so powerful that it allows users to create basic games in completely different genres.

Seems fairly similar to me. Did you both watch the second half of that first video?

If it's anything like the first Trials, it will have great controls. My guess is that the editor won't be nearly as impressive as LBP2, but better controls will probably help that fact.

Those are both good examples, but at least Halo wasn't as user friendly as this. When I was playing Halo, you couldn't make single player content, and the multiplayer content couldn't be played on Live with random people, for obvious reasons. Unless you happened to be playing with several friends, the content editor really wasn't that big of an addition. For the most part, you just ended up playing the same maps that shipped with the game.

Being that trials will mostly be centered around single player creations--or multiplayer with, at most, two or three friends--I think that the editor here will be much more valuable. And no, I didn't play Forza.

I'll retract my suggestion that MS has never supported user content, and restate by saying that I don't believe that Microsoft has supported user content to extent that Sony has, and this game will certainly help that fact.

That trailer was awesome! A fucking top down shmup, a FPS, a Marble Madness type game. This actually does look like LBP.

    @SpaceInsomniac:

Maybe nothing like that was a bit of a stretch on my part but it still doesn't look as advanced as LBP's. Still, it looks good and hopefully they don't make the controls to loose to accommodate the customization. As far as the second half of the video it looked like Pain and that FPS part will probably be janky just like the first person LBP levels(did you notice it did not show the gun actually shoot in the trailer).

Some of the stuff LBP's creation tools have made:

The controls should be quite solid, as the first game featured excellent controls, but everything else in your post I completely agree with. All the other genre stuff will be janky as hell, and I'm sure the creation tools won't come anywhere near LBP2. But as someone who doesn't own a PS3, I'm just happy that the 360 will finally be getting something like this.

No, this is actually a video game, and an awesome one at that.

What i mean is, this is a game first, that is just a bonus...

Little Big Planet on the other hand...

Is nothing but a Level/Game Editor where you can make cool stuff (or just rip off cool stuff), with the bonus of what you create being somewhat playable.

Actually calling Little Big Planet a Video Game, makes video games look bad.

I'm sure even MM would agree that it's more an Editor than an actual game.

So the OP is like Bronie convention where it ends up in an orgy after they take off their cosplay gear and realise that they are all are infact gay men waiting to leave the closet.

@mordukai: No. it's just my opinion.

It's not like it hurts LBP in any way, cos who's seriously buying it to play it?!

It's a good place to create stuff, and that was their goal from the beggining, so mission accomplished.

Ok, maybe kids are buying it with the intent to play it, cos well, they wouldn't know any better, they see those cute little guys on the cover with the PS3 logo on top, of ocurse they would think it's game for them.

But they probably still like it, cos well, they're kids.

Wait i get it, it's a tool for adults to create stuff, and a video game for kids to enjoy.

    Awesome, then.

But, don't compare it to Trials.

Maybe you could compare the Game/Level Editors.

    But that's it.

@BPRJCTX: Did I compare it to Trials? I don't remember I did. The OP did (well not really but it didn't stop you from interpreting it like that) and you went off and made a really dumb comment about a game you have very little knowledge in. Then you go and make another dumb comment. I think you should go for three.

    From Brad's five star review:

Then there's the "pro" editor, which lets you dig so deep into the engine and game mechanics that it's capable making things like a first-person shooter and an overhead-scrolling Raiden clone (which already exist). How is it possible this game quietly shipped with LittleBigPlanet in it? It's nuts.

    HA!
