I've been playing the Uncharted 2 mutiplayer, and I've noticed that whenever you get the "flag", the player yells it out. What the hell? Why? It just gives away their position!

@iAmJohn: But it is unnecessary because it shows where the flag is on screen at all times.

Well sorry, but if I got an ancient treasure worth millions of dollars I would be pretty excited too.

Well, do they have some kind of identifier (i.e. TF2's briefcase location) in place? If not, it kind of makes sense. That and, if your playing CTF (in real-life), wouldn't you want to identify to your teammates you have the object, so they can defend you?

If there is an indicator on the screen at all times of where the flag is...then what does it matter if someone yells that they have it?  You'll see it moving anyways, right?

The glowing yellow/green/red icon of the treasure gives away their position too. No "I gots teh treasure" needed.

@Karmum: I would call out their names, but not yell, "HEY I HAVE THE FLAG!"

I guess that makes sense. I haven't played UC2, so I don't know what's in place. Any time of markers telling you if someone has the flag? (or location, excluding this yelling mechanism)

Yes there is a colored picture of the treasure icon that you can see through walls no matter what part of the map you are on. Unless you are def and blind, it will be pretty easy to know when someone grabs the loot.

Ah, okay. Not sure of what the yelling is for (I'd like to see this thing in action), but I guess it's for realistic purposes. Then again, if I had to be caught dead in a CTF-like warzone, I wouldn't be yelling if I had the flag.

Maybe in the full version, with cameo characters they say different things:

'I got them ice, bitches!' 50 Cent
'Yo dawg, look at this ice, man' Tony Yayo
'Where my skull? There my skull!'
Make up your own if you want to. You heard it here first.

Me and my friend were saying that in a real life situation you'd be shot to death right after you would yell that you have the flag.

Lol, dissect what you just said. A real life situation of capturing a flag under hostile fire is only in the future, it is nowhere near 2015. We are safe from that.

The game is about treasure hunting, so if you yell that you have the treasure while other people are still looking for it (people who want it for themselves) then you would get shot to death.

    There. Better explanation. lol.

@Metal_Gear_Sunny: Just ask them for the treasure. I have seen the womens in the game playfully jump on the backs of some guys. They all have fun and the treasure is dropped and the pretty lady gets to take it home. See? No one has to die, at least I don't think she killed him... I need to make a phone call.

It's most likely just a notifier to tell the player that they actually grabbed it. Kinda like the kill sound.
