been playing rome recently. Even though it's kind of old, it still is one of the games i enjoy most.

I've never gotten into a Total War game...but I've always WANTED to.

To bad empire is still broken. I literally can't play because the resolution is all messed up.

EXP seems like a smart addition, definitely something I have always wanted.
 
Mostly though I am just happy to be back to an era of unit diversity, Empires Total War was so dry with like 4 units in the entire game, just reskinned with slightly different stats.

Well, it's Total War alright, but i'll appreciate the return to melee. Not to mention, skill trees that look damn sweet, ninjas, mustaches, and ninjas with mustaches (yet unconfirmed).

I guess for expansions Mongolia will invade Japan and Japan will invade China again. Still, I guess a graphical and gameplay update to Shogun wouldn't be so bad.

Well, expect the same shitty PR and awful Sega marketing policy of having various retailer-specific pre-order exclusive units (or other in-game content) and special/limited edition content that isn't available as DLC for people who bought the normal edition of the game, even after almost a YEAR since the release date. 
The people who bought Napoleon Total War know what I'm talking about. 
The people who didn't, picture this: even if you have pre-ordered the special edition of the game and bought every subsequent DLC for the game, you still DON'T RECEIVE all the content. Why? Because, in order to have all the content, you should have been insane enough to pre-order the special edition of the game from 4 different retailers just to get all the pre-order exclusive units! Had enough? Here's more: 1 of those retailers is delivering ONLY in Europe. BOOM! Game over!
 
The funny part is that, eventually, the did fix those marketing issues with the PREVIOUS title, Empire Total War, yet they still haven't done anything about the CURRENT title, Napoleon Total War. And I'm not even mentioning the bugs and crashes- that's a whole other chapter.
 
But hey, we're in 2011 and shitty marketing stunts like that  are still being made, and by big time publishers nonetheless, like Sega. 
And shitty marketing stunts like that will eventually bury the PC gaming, which isn't all that great these days, that's for sure.

I will never understand why I don't like this franchise. It has everything I love, but I just can never get into it.

This will be the Total War game that I will get addicted to methinks. 
 
The old ones were pretty good, but I found them very finicky. A  more streamlined experience would be great, as long as they don't dumb anything down.

I think the Engrish VO actually adds effect, instead of being racist. But yea this game looks pretty cool

Looks awesome, tho the CG leaves a lot to be desired.  It's so bad, I wish they just didn't have CG movies 

i want this game , just as i want to get all the total war games . but i first have to start with rome wich has been in my collection for age's but i havem't play'd it yet in earnest.

Total War is one of the top PC franchises of all time, in my opinion.
