Assassin's Creed: Unity's First DLC, 'Dead Kings,' Is Coming Next Week

Outside of technical issues and the rape on history they've performed, one thing pisses me off the most.

The lack of awful French accents. Liberation was so good on this front. Wish they never came back to the first AC's bullshit regular American/British accents.

If you love something, set it free.

What's with the use of modern licensed music in fantasy/period game trailers lately?

Montpellier, you say? Them's the Valiant Hearts and Rayman Origins/Legends people. AKA the best Ubisoft studio. That makes non-broken games.

I know thats nothing what the actual gameplay will look like but the trailer was cool. Assassins Creed trailers have always been really great, my favorite being the one for Revelations.

Remember how fun the main character was for like the first 10 minutes. All it took was his godfather getting killed and now he's all Connor'd up. Connor literally lost his entire tribe tho, like this brooding shit isnt earned at all.

I thought Ubisoft canceled the DLC for Unity? Or is this being released because it's not coming from Ubisoft Montreal?

@ghostiet: Personally, I'm happy they had awful British accents. It inspired me to finally play an AC game in the native tongue, and in French with English subtitles, it was actually a really cool experience.

@benmo316: It wasn't canceled; they just said they would make it free to make amends.

I did that with Assassin's Creed II. Only awkward thing was that the future stuff was in Italian as well. And you didn't get subtitles for people rambling about your parkour skills.

Hopefully it is decent. AC Unity was pretty middling on the story front.

Don't play unity though. I can't recomend that.

@chuck_schwarz: The lip syncing doesn't match up, and that's kind of distracting if you happen to look up from the subtitles every once in a while, but overall it's way, way better.

I don't even care at this point. Assassin's Creed Unity sits on my PS4 hard drive and I have little desire to play it again (let this be a warning to those who get suckered into buying games digitally, le sigh). Even if they fixed everything, I've lost all will to go back and finish the game. I'd rather play Rogue given its proximity to Black Flag.

"Suffered"? If you say so, but Unity was great. Looking forward to this, since it's free (never bothered with an AC DLC before). That music didn't fit at all, though...

So is this getting rushed out to try and save face? Cause then it might suffer the same issues.

If not that means this is a large chunk of content being released just a couple months later. Hard not to feel this was cut from the full game in hopes of selling it back to us, only their plan backfired.

It looks like the production team all watched The Hobbit right before their creative meeting for this trailer....

Yeah, you should play in French with English subs. I replayed a few missions after I finished the game like this and wish I had done it from the beginning.

I don't speak French, so even if the voice acting is terrible I wouldn't know...

As seemingly the only one that actually liked Unity, I'm looking forward to playing this.

People still buy these games?

I just want the one set in China. Except I don't want to actually buy an AC game.

@lausebub: Very true. When during the few future scenes that happened during Unity, I wished I could switch it back to English. But I enjoyed the random dialogue being in French way more. Honestly, everyone always freaking out when you run two steps or climb over a fence was the kind of decision that was like "OK I see why you'd want them to do that but as it is now, it's more immersion-breaking than anything."

And the first video uploaded to Giant Bomb in 2015 is.... AC:U DLC...

Of what I've played of Unity, I enjoyed it, but since I got that and AC IV with my new Xbox, AC IV has taken over and is now my most played game of 2014.

Free is about 10 dollars more than I'm willing to pay.

@myniceicelife: I bought it at launch and didn't install it until mid-December after the patch and in my eyes it's been another solid but not amazing AC game. The only thing I really couldn't stand was the Brit. accents so I threw it on French with subtitles.

does it come with free no face mod and 15 fps so can enjoy each frame

Just got a free code for Unity with a new graphics card, so this will be mildly interesting. I stress mildly - despite having the code for a few days now, I haven't bothered to redeem it. Such is the excitement Unity generates within me.

I finished the game, didn't love it but didn't hate it, then uninstalled it. I won't be playing the DLC, free or not, because I'd have to redownload a 40+gb game to do it, which just isn't realistic on an Australian connection with a 100gb bandwidth limit.

Ubisoft's got a knack for making good trailers.

Alex's editorializing on AC is getting pretty tiring. We get it, you didn't like the game. As someone who didn't "suffer" through the main game, I'm excited to play this DLC.

I wonder if they ever got rid of the terrible, broken "Club" gating for the good Unity gear. I'd bet not.

This is probably the best looking trailer of a game I will probably never play.
