Call of Duty: Black Ops II Takes You to 2025

When I read the spoilers I was prepared to not care but that's a sick trailer.

Maybe the weapons will be cool but that looked pretty stupid to me.

I'm going to wait until the game is out before making any crazy decisions, but this looks more interesting than any of the Call of Duty games since Modern Warfare.

I have faith in Treyarch because Black Ops was, in my opinion, a huge improvement over MW2, and far better than MW3, in both the single and multi-player department; at least to my tastes, the level design, weapon choices and general play-style of Black Ops was actually spot on, and the storyline was the most coherent and engaging since COD 4 (although that's never been the series' strength). If this is Activision loosening the reigns just a bit on Treyarch and letting them make something more they're own, then I'm all for seeing how it turns out.

Something tells me that's not the case, but I'll hold out hope

Look, I actually really enjoyed BLOPS and MW2 (MW3 I only flirted with briefly but the new MP modes were kinda awesome) and, while this series is getting stale, I would happily defend it from the usual detractors.

But man, I don't remember the last time I was so underwhelmed by a trailer. Really badly ageing engine. Chance of having to fight bullet-sponge mechs/tanks. No interesting characters to speak of. Lots of onrail sections.

And Sci-fi? Really? This is as sci-fi as Future Soldier and that's not much. Give me lasers and space-ships, not this semi-Syndicate but not quite nonsense.

The sci-fi elements have me interested. Hopefully the aesthetic isn't all that's changing though. I've enjoyed every CoD I've played, but they haven't been able to hold my attention since MW2 due to how similar they all feel.

The Prestige Edition better include a horse figure.

Pretty cool. Would have liked to see more of a visual upgrade but I guess their saving their money/risk for the next gen consoles. The campaign should be pretty fun. Too much drone stuff in the competitive online play could get annoying so I hope they handle they well. We'll see. I haven't bought a CoD for a few years so I might get this one.

Horses part reminded me of Uncharted 3. Also I think I was hearing the BF3 theme in there somewhere.

Watching this, I forgot it was a Call of Duty game, which isn't a bad thing. Glad to see they're doing something different even if it might just be a Call of Duty reskin.

Yikes, apparently in the future the world looks cliche and phony. I don't think Treyarch has the creative design talent to pull off this setting.

I'm so glad this isn't in the middle east or some other old thing that's already happened. Call of Duty with robots is a-ok in my book. I thought I would immediately ate this, but no, it could be cool.

I know it is cool to hate this series... but that was pretty awesome. Everything looks like it is just cranked up to 11 at all times...

Funny because in 2025 CoD will finally be dead and hated on by everyone like every other franchise Activision has ruined.

This looks awful. 90% of it looks on rails. I would have much preferred staying in the Cold War era. There was some shady and fucked up stuff they could have explored, rather than this bogus iRobot crap.

... Can't believe I'm sort of excited for a Call of Duty game. Didn't see the 2025 angle coming, and this was a well-done trailer, for the most part. I actually hated Black Ops, and Frank Woods, yet his dumb little speech got me sort of hyped.

My hype will probably die off once E3 comes and we see some more on-rails non-action.
