I've never even played final fantasy. Am I weird?

FFXIII continues to plumb exciting new depths within its own ass.

I am actually excited for this. But then I am someone who liked 13 and 13-2.

The series continues to move further and further away from the few elements that all Final Fantasy games have in common as it continues to iterate. Not a bad thing in and of itself, but it is because of those things that I like the series: Namely, the chance to meet a new set of characters and a new world to explore that incorporates the use of magic in interesting ways.

Why are they making this? Who still cares about the fiction of Final Fantasy XIII and why?

I know anything called "Final Fantasy" still sells unreasonably well on that alone, but god damn, everyone I know couldn't bring themselves to give a shit about FF13 even while they were playing FF13. Of all the FF installments to milk this hard, it seems insane that they'd pick this one.

I'm right there with you, I love these games. I'm also glad that XIII is the FF that Square decided to make sequels to as the universe and characters of XIII is probably my favorite of all the FFs.

@spaghettios: Eh, with any long running series you've got some winners and some losers. Which game is which really depends on the person.

Now, as for this trailer...fucking god damn it, Japan. Enough with the outfits. I thought Lightning's weird combat short-shorts were silly in FF13, then her weird hood-ornament breastplate in FF13-2...now this? Is she wearing a drape store?

@infinitegeass: Nope, count me in, if for nothing else but the conclusion of the story. I got sucked in by the story of 13, bought 13-2, hoping for the ending, and (eventually) 13-3 will get me again, because for some stupid reason, I HAVE TO EXPERIENCE IT.

XIII-2 threw a big handful of sand in my eyes during its final hours. But I did mostly enjoy it, and its predecessor, up until then.. so I guess I'm in to see how it all plays out.

What's the specific problem(s) that you feel makes this game so terrible in comparison to earlier games in the series?

Haha yeah, pretty much. I'm saying this as a HUGE fan of the FF franchise: At this point I really don't care about FF anymore. There has just been too much bullshit these last few years.
