Fighting the Streets with Kenny Omega

It's not "wrestling stuff." It's a video game thing where one of the guys participating is a kinda-notable wrestler. It feels like there are people here that just sit around waiting for wrestling to come up in any form, and then go on and on about how disappointed they are and how that isn't what they're here for...as if it being brought up in a 2 minute tangent on the podcast every few weeks, or as if a throwaway reference during a QL, or as if Xavier Woods being on the couch with Jeff and Cliffy talking about the GAMES (not wrestling) they saw at E3 is just not acceptable on this site.

The amount of content on this site that is straight up "wrestling content" is minimal. There's a pay podcast that is totally optional. That thing where they went to Wrestlemania and Jeff talked to Sgt Slaughter. That thing where Dan talked to Stardust about Starman and The Miz about Johnny Cage. I guess you maybe could count Patrick getting his face shaved with Xavier and crew in attendance...actually, was that even actually on this site or just something Dan just put on Youtube? Regardless, for a site that's been around for coming up on 9 years, that's nothing. It's just something that they throw in once in a while. Like energy drinks. Like fast food. Like rap music.

However you feel about it, it's not going to stop. Dan is a freak about it, Jeff, Alex, and to a lesser extent Jason are into it enough. That's half the site. Better STRAP IN.

GB should just complete the triforce of obsession and hire a giant weeb and a comic book nerd, then everyone can complain and we restore balance.

I'm all about this. Kenny is a super nice dude and way into his Street Fighter.

To everyone bashing this video because of a "pro wrestler". That's like me bashing you for being (Insert job name here). This video has about like 5 minutes of wrestling talk spread through out. And none of it pertains to a match or anything, it's talking about other wrestlers and fighting games. This is more about what games this guy likes to play, and how wrestling moves go into this game, not about matches or anything. So before you hate on something you are giving no chance, actually watch a few minutes then talk.

Absolutely this. To the people who say "I refuse to partake in ANY Giant Bomb content that has ANY hint of wrestling in it". . .I mean, that is absolutely your right, but that is also an issue with your tolerance levels, and not a problem with the site as a whole.

And, as someone who hasn't followed any wrestling since Sergeant Slaughter was in the ring, Kenny Omega seems like a super cool guy.

It's not so concentrated outside the power bombcast yes, but it's still way more compare to before. I can see why someone would not like how much more wrestling is on the site.

Kenny Omega is easily one of my favorite wrestlers currently. Whenever I see his entrances in New Japan I find myself giggling like a little kid at how amazing the character is. The more I hear about the nerdy shit he's into outside of wrestling the more I love him. I was blessed enough to see him live back in December. He even did the hadoken and as he did it he literally said "Xavier Woods, this one's for you motherfucker." Nice to know their rivalry remains strong to this day. I'd like to see whose better at SFV between Kenny and Jack Evans. Thanks for this video, seeing Jason and Dan interact with this man was surreal to say to the least.

@castiel: I bet just about everybody on this site could pick a certain topic that is often discussed that they don't enjoy/ aren't interested in. You can't expect these guys to perfectly cater to your needs. (see the weeks and weeks of destiny podcasts)

Anyways, Jeff spends a lot of energy keeping the wrestling references down to a minimum. Ultimately it's part of the teams personality, the guys are just being themselves.

I completely understand why people wouldn't want to listen to the power bombcast (as a casual wrestling fan that type of critical commentary is unbearable to me) but to claim that these minor references are taking away from your overall enjoyment of the site is a tad dramatic.

This just in: professional wrestlers have fun and interesting personalities, similar to the guys we enjoy on this site. Just because you have a negative connotation towards wrestling on a personal level shouldn't inhibit your enjoyment of this video game content.

For me Giant Bomb has always been more about funny people having a good time and enjoying games than about video games and the video game industry. Kenny Omega and Austin "Xavier Woods" Creed seem to fit in with this site as well as many of the video game professionals who make regular appearances. I look forward to their future appearances, whether they be related to wrestling or not.

This is cool and all, but when can we expect Brad to carry Jeremy Lin & and JJ Lin to victory?

I'm putting way too much thought into this, but wrasslin' is way out in front for extraneous topics that consistently come up on GB, so understandably some people won't (and also will) love that.

Nothing else in my mind comes close. Anime, ever so slightly (and in a much more ironic fashion) than wrestling. Not even music (or rap/hip-hop majorately) or film comes up as much. I think people get a little shitty that whenever Dan is around, there is wrasslin talk. No one else has this strong an effect, and if they did, it was Austin. Dan is like a one-track-minded kid, it's Nintendo, wrestling, food shenanigans... and... not much else.

Whenever Jason is around they talk fighting games, and Brad, well... it was DOTA for a while. Drew of course is the sim/military/F1 guru. But realistically they generally have a gaming context. Wrasslin' seems to have less. Alex doesn't talk about it ceaselessly like Dan does, and he's obviously heavily invested in wrasslin'.

I'm happy to not partake in the wrasslin' stuff and that's fine for me as I can't absorb all the content GB puts out anyway so it's all good.

If the site spreads out in various directions somewhat equally thats cool. Brad with the developer chat was awesome. More of that please. Perhaps more of Jeff reviewing energy drinks/food. More Gundam reviews from Vinnie, more table top games from Drew and Rory.

Awesome video. I don't follow wrestling but Kenny seems like a great guy. However, he is mistaken in saying there is a Dead of the Brain english patch -- or at least I can't find one. I'm so jealous of all the crazy horror adventure games Japan got in the 90s. It makes me want to start learning Japanese again.
