Did that plane just fly into that other plane while it was exploding?

This is more like it, I skipped out on the close quarters DLC because giant maps with tons of vehicles is what I personally wanted. Looking forward to driving that scud-missle launcher thing.

Buy this DLC for Beta Access to Battlefield 4!

I lost it when I saw that. I mean, it's one thing to advertise the beta during trailers for MOH: Warfighter, but it is quite another to advertise the beta during a trailer for the prequel's DLC.

I wonder how this will turn out on consoles, even the biggest maps were way too small to use jets in on PS3 (and, well, they only had at most 4 jets per map). But, hey, it's still much more interesting than the close quarters stuff, which was even smaller.

I think it's really sad that they're doing Battlefield 4 already. OK, with EA and how they desperately try to imitate the success of COD it was silly of me to expect anything else, but one reason people looked forward to Battlefield 3 was that there had actually been long enough since the last mainline release that there were noticeable improvements compared to BF2. Annualizing the main series will not result in anything good. They should've mixed it up with Bad Company and side stuff like 2142, Vietnam and that stuff instead (maybe even another Heroes). Maybe they wouldn't have to wait 5 years between games like with BF2 to BF3, but let there at least be 3 years, so there could be some amount of gameplay and technology improvements between the games.

I may not work at EA, but I can't imagine a scenario in which announcing the next game in your popular franchise will come in a year before the DLC for the previous game has all been released is a sound marketing strategy.

With the ( very sad ) announcement of Battlefield 4, I am no longer having any interest in purchasing DLC for this game, since its popularity will heavily decrease and render most of its paid DLC useless.

AS almost every account in Battlefield 3 has purchased the premium already, it really doesn't matter if the announcement of battlefield 4 matters or not, people have already bought the DLCs anyway, I personally wont buy any of the DLCs unless theres bot support, and wont be getting BF4 unless there is Bot support for that either, took a risk getting BF3, which i do enjoy and knew what i was getting, but certainly not going to spend another 50-60$ for DLCs, thats just rediculas.

Battlefield 3 came out in 2011. Battlefield 4 is coming out in 2013.

@Javes: Which it will probably be delayed to 2014. Seriously - 3 years is a great cycle. Much better than 9 months...

I hate to say it, but this premium thing was worth it. I do think map DLC should be free or even cheaper, but whatever. I bought it so it isn't a rip-off.

I agree in theory ... but man, trying to get a match in any of the Close Quarters matches that isn't Gun Master mode is nigh on impossible. I don't regret getting Premium, but they need more official servers and less "24/7 METRO! 200% TIX!! NO RECON OR BAN!!!!!" bullshit.... still an amazing game though.

And for people who don't think it's worth it because Battlefield 4 is announced, would you say the same about Call of Duty every year? Why buy Madden when there's a new one every year? Life's too short to say "I'll wait 18 months and play the next game"... Battlefield 3 is worth your time and money.

If you're just starting out and don't want Premium I'd try and get Karkand for free in the Limited Editions (I can still find them new for half the launch price at least) or just skip it, skip Close Quarters and buy Armored Kill when it drops. Aside from Gulf of Oman I think Karkand is criminally underused, the standard maps seem way more popular.
