@Heylook: That's how things improve, iterate on good idea's. Remember when Drake's fortune was revealed and everyone called it a tomb raider rip off? I hate to use the whole Gear's of war/killswitch arguement but really why does it matter unless it's actually just a shameless rip-off that does NOTHING new.

Wow, that's a lot of abuse Lara takes there. Looks interesting though.

It was obviously said in a joking manner. Movie characters do it all the time. As soon as something in their plan goes belly up, they go, "I hate ____" before making a silly face and looking at the camera.

Pretty sure since this is a reboot and an origin story the whole point of that line is supposed to show that this game shapes Lara into who we all know her as. She may have initially hated tombs for some sort of namby-pamby reason but by the end of this game she'll be so hardened that it's no problem. And Meowshi was correct it's a joke for the audience only think of 007, in one of the Daniel Craig movies he asks the bartender for his iconic drink and the guy goes "shaken or stirred", his response is something along the lines of "Do I look like I give a damn?" That's not what we'd think 007 would say but it's funny because it's a small part of him that is in fact so trivial that yeah, at that point in the story it would be stupid to care about.

This still seems to be a bit too torture porn-ish. But then I suppose it raises some interesting discussion about having a female lead character get the Bruce Willis Die-Hard treatment.

I don't really get the torture porn comparison. It's one of the few genres I absolutely hate from the movies, but the things I see here are all pretty amazing.

Yeah that remains the one thing that keeps me out of Drake's various adventures. After killing almost 1,000 guys in a single playthrough, suspension of disbelief gone.

Looks like someone got tired of milking the Tomb Raider name and decided to actually make an effort.

Seriously, this looks amazing. Kudos to Square Enix for giving them time and obviously a lot of cash.

Can somebody explain to me why there are so many people commenting that the whole game looks like torture porn? I see her getting hurt running around in the jungle and then a dude knocking her out, which she ends up escaping from. Doesn't exactly strike me as a 'saw' movie. Are people just super-sensitive because it's a videogame? I mean, they aren't even playing it yet. What, exactly, about this 3 minute trailer, was so horrifically brutal?

This game actually looks pretty awesome.

Plus if that blood Lara is covered in is from shooting that guy it might end up being as brutal as Max Payne 3.

Yeah, I like this Lara Croft than the previous one. The Tomb Raider of modern times seems more realistic than the Tomb Raider of the old days.

Still very excited for the game but man, the voice actor they chose for Lara doesn't sound all that great.

Anyway, it looks great. I always loved this type of game, and now that Uncharted is (most likely) over it's nice to have this franchise return to fill my jumping/shooting/puzzling-ing needs. there hasn't been a truly great Tomb Raider game in what? like 10 years now?

I will play this game. Haters can get the hell out.

I still haven't played Uncharted 3. :(

Well, it's because the actual misogynists are the ones complaining that it's wrong for a female character to be placed in this kinda story, whilst praising movies like Die Hard, The Grey and The Edge for being 'manly'.

What's with all these comments that make Tomb Raider sound like it is ripping off Uncharted? Am I the only one that remembers when Uncharted came out it was nicknamed "Dude Raider?"

God I feel old.

I think this is derivative of Uncharted only in the sense of its set-pieces. The dangling from rickety structures and running away from giant rolling machinery is pretty Nathan Drake-y, but then again, Uncharted was derivative of Tomb Raider at the beginning.

Seems like Uncharted, only Lara is really, really bad at raiding tombs.

Looks like the actress went to the Russell Crowe school of accents. Her accent changes from British to American and back again several times. Looks cool though.
