Am I confusing this with another open-world, urban based parkour thing where you have superpowers?

It looks cool but there doesn't appear to be much depth.  I know nothing about the game though.

It does look a lot like TFU, but it doesn't seem as linnear.

This is what it would be like if some jackass had lightning/energy beam powers in New York City.

got bored after first 15seconds... jus does the same thing over and over again and seems to play like force unleashed

Force unleashed? What are you guys talking about?  If anything the game looks like psi-ops and that means it looks awsome.

So they've taken Crackdown and replaced the guns and fists with lightning.  Am I missing something? What's the draw here?

Sounded cool at first, but those powers look like rather generic art swaps for any other third person action game. You have guns (the standard zapping attack), grenades (the orbs he throws), and even a spiderman-esque ground pound. Even the telekinesis has been done well countless times before. All in all, I don't see much here to get me excited.

I think you're confusing this game with the upcoming Protoype game.

I dont really see how people can see this game as mediocre, even if its not their style it clearly has appeal, polish, and properly working mechanics (mechanics people will actually care about).  Anyway, Im not a fan of the running animation, lol,  but I'm fairly interested atm.  We shall wait and see how it turns out.

Boring,Prototype looks much more interesting and fun to play

Game looks awesome. Although the electric powers may seem like normal TPS weapons, it's cool how they affect the world (conducting electricity) plus the effects are really, really cool.

Prototype!  That's the one I was trying to think of.

I realize a lot of people here aren't wowed by this, but to me I don't know what to think.  I'd like to know about mission structure, just how interactive the world is when you're NOT using your powers, that sort of thing.

If it's sandbox with cars that go boom and gangsters and innocents that go crunch, to me that's not open world enough to be called open world, but for the rest of the game I dunno.

That was really surprisingly underwhelming. This was a game that up till now made me want to get a PS3 even more, but after seeing this I can say that I'm sorely dissapointed. Maybe it'll be ten times better by the time it's out and people can play it, but I have my doubts.

The way this game was originally described to me was "It's like GTA, but you have superhuman strength and can fly. That sounded awesome. This, just a bunch of different electrical-themed powers? This doesn't look so awesome. I'm still willing to give it a chance though.

I totally agree with IncredibleBulk. Everything seemed kind of repetitive and underwhelming.

Infamous breakdown......

-Boss fights, each sector of the city has their own style of the neighborhood and are under the control of a gang, the gangs leader is the superpowered boss.
-There will be various side missions that you get to save poeple or rescue them.
-Your powers will increase as you beat (unlock) each sector of the city. Hence, your powers rely on the cities juice and once the entire city is unlocked, your a SUPER SUPER HERO.
-There is a loosely tied story based on your hero as when you wake up, you have these powers and the city is under super powered villains control.
-Rinse and repeat said breakdown.

You might be into this kinda stuff like the formerly released Spiderman: Web of Shadows and Will Smiths latest movie "HANCOCK".  I however am not and am tired of this formula because its been done to death.

Looks very boring. Looks a lot like GTA/Crackdown/Prototype/Force Unleashed wrapped up with a cliche ass main hero. His name is Cole, so he's jaded and dark!
The graphics are obviously nice, smooth animations, but the game play looks very dull...

this is absolutely unconscionable.  after such a display of unsupressed power, why would any of the other characters in the game try to fight this guy with conventional weapons?  i know that's not a question one should be asking with a game like this, but is too much to ask for a game to have a brain as well?  this is just big dumb, pretty boom-boom.

It looks too easy, I mean, everyone is using basic weapons and he's frying their asses with repetitive lightnight blasts.

i do agree the powers the guy uses are a bit... underwhelming considering all the cool things that can be done with Lightning...

wheres using the citys power to create lighting fissurs? Wheres climbing a Lightpost and using it as a Turret? where the DBZ inspired giant balls of pure electronic energy???


But, it does still look like alot of fun.
But im renting before buying.

Overall id rather they just finish the game and get on to making a Sly Cooper NextGen

Prototype looks much better, even though both are cut from the same cloth.  Granted I've seen both only in out-of-context gameplay sessions with no story elements, but from what I've heard Prototype has a unique method of feeding you the story via absorbing it through the people you consume.

The open world game has finally reached the point of saturation.  It's time to get back to less freedom and more story.
