It feels like capcom has no idea what to do with RE anymore. I mean RE6 was a financial flop, the revelations spinoffs are niche and I haven't heard they sell well and you only have so many games you can remake. We shouldn't need to talk about how uninspired Operation Raccoon City was... and yet this takes a very clear inspiration from that vat of bad ideas and clunky game design.

@kavukavu: RE6 was only a flop in Capcom's mind. According to This Story on Destructoid, it sold just shy of five million copies at the time of that writing. I mean, RE fans tended to hate the game, but it still sold pretty well. You're right though, Capcom does have no idea what to do with that license anymore.

Far as I'm concerned, RE stopped at RE3. Four was a fun game, sure, but it never felt like a Resident Evil game to me. I was actually hoping this new one would take the base idea of Operation Raccoon City (Playing as the bad guys can be fun people!) and iterate on it. This video, well, yeah this video isn't filling me with any hope of that happening.

As someone who liked what RE: ORC was going for, I'm not going to write this GAME off. But this trailer is bad, I heard "He's a veteran". He's a veteran of what? This un released game?

Just finished the trailer and this is set for early 2016? The animations can't possibly be finished, like that can't be final pass on the animation.

Is anyone else getting a weird MXC vibe coming from the commentary? But like if the MXC guys were trying to take this seriously and grow Takeshi's Castle into a sport.

This is so dumb. The game looks fun and, as a Resident Evil fan, I'm used to Capcom doing silly things with this franchise, but this brings it to another level. Wow.

If you want to make me uninterested in a Resident Evil game, make it a first person shooter.
If you want to make me uninterested in a first person shooter, bill it as an "esport".

In all honesty, everything about this is AWFUL.

Developers have this HUGE disconnect with E-sports don't they. Like you can't bill your game as an e-sport. It just doesn't work that way unless you're Valve and can run million dollar tournaments on your own. It's for the fans to determine whether or not they want to pursue a game on the professional level.
