Looks good. The pricing model is a little funky, but a good funky. It feels like you only have to spend to your level of involvement, which is a model I've never really seen outside of free to play games.

this is a game American fighting game players love to hate. i don't know why, it seems ok if you're into this kind of fighter.

Lame cheesy characters that look like they're stolen from many different games.

Looks incredibly dated and seeing how picky real fighting game fans are it almost seems like a waste because I don't see a lot of them really getting into it.

It's kind of telling that Virtua Fighter has no need for DOA characters in their trailer, but without anyone with real vision at the helm, it's looking like DOA5 is going to be chock full of VF characters.

The weird thing is that DOA is actually still the more relevant one of the two these days for most players.

This engine is old as shit. I appreciate they re-animated most of the moves, but still. You look at SCV or DOA5 and then look at this and it seems minor league. Which is a shame because the actual fighting is akin to chess, head and shoulders above anything else in the genre.

Which is the proper alignment.

15$ is pretty smart. Also it shows you the frame data, which no other game does and why does no other game do that

I bought an overpriced $600 PS3 for VF5 so I cannot wait. Can't wait to fire up Jeff and sit back and listen to some great Engrish that only Sega can still produce in 2012 somehow.

It's best seen in person no doubt and in HD. The compressed video in 30 fps is a bad example.

Yes it's old but it's still a well thought out system still based on vanilla VF5. I am sure Sega would want to do VF6 but this was made for Japanese arcades to help expand the lifespan of 5 and they succeeded. Graphically it's not as up to date but damn what kept it alive was the gameplay. For years, VF5 vanilla, R, and Final Showdown have consistently been in top 10 lists in arcades because of the competitive updates.

@ALMIGHTYCHEEKS: No need to spout misinformation about things you clearly know nothing about. This is an updated version of a six year old game; the graphics have not "taken a hit."

The weird thing is that DOA is actually still the more relevant one of the two these days for most players.

More relevant but the player base seems oddly divided: One side are casuals who don't know fighting games and want to see the jiggles, another side is a very weakened competitive community plagued by multiple controversies and being beat by the more popular fighters in player count (SSFIVAE2012, UMVC3, etc). Personally, both DOA5 and VF5FS might not last long internationally (it will definitely still live on in Japan because of how consistent it's still played) but in terms of competitive consistency, VF is a winner. Sega has been bringing the game everywhere: conventions, major fighting game tournaments, etc and people are loving it's gameplay. No offense to DOA5 but I feel like it wont have enough substance to keep the game relevant for at least a year.

VF is by far my favorite fighting game series of all time. Maybe this will be more popular with the resurgence of fighting games (even with SEGA behind the helm :/ )

If you are looking for a competitive, deep, and balanced 3D fighter you should definitely check out VF5FS!

Can't wait to get my hands on this. Hopefully this does well and we get a VF6. The release timing couldn't have worked out better for them. I originally thought they waited too long and Tekken Tag 2 would release a few months later and crush any momentum it achieved.

Also, I can see where some are coming from but IMO the graphics are actually pretty amazing for a 6 year old engine and even parts still look really good. There are some dated ps2 looking elements (like faces and some clothing looks a little low polygon) but I think most of the animations are still the best in the genre. I love Tekken to death, but it really relies on those hit sparks a lot where VF is more ambitious with how it animates the impacts and just has more animations for all kinds of situations in general from my experience.

Fans will be happy, but I think most people who know nothing except that Virtua Fighter is SUPPOSED to be good will be disappointed. I hope this will be sold at an appropriate price.
