@alex I've been playing on the PC with the giant community, and I still do not know! But yeah, it's part of the new lore / content they been teasing lately. Basically a greedy space merchant want to sell body parts and has a evil scheme.

@rapid: ok that trailer made alot more sense after reading what you wrote. When I first watched it, throughout the 2nd half I was like, wait, did that machine just sever some dude? Or was it just armor that was severed since I don't think the first guy moved. And then I saw the 2nd guy move and I'm like, oh man this is messed up if he's gonna get severed, but then it didn't happen and I was left with questions

Ok, quick explanation of what's going on.

That dude that gets chopped up at the start is an Excalibur. One of the many different warframes that the Tenno (the players) use and the one that is generally considered the 'default' frame (and somewhat resembles the armour worn by Hayden Tenno in Dark Sector; no the naming is not a coincident).

The warframe that was brought up and is being auctioned off is a Mag, a magnetically powered warframe that likes to throw dudes around an crush them into tiny piles of goop.

The dude who is pacing around is Alad V the leader of the Corpus, a group of crazy techno-capitalists. Think the Ferrengi meets the Borg. Alad wants to capture and dissect Tenno to steal their sweet, sweet technology to make more powerful weapons so he can conquer the world.

Basically, Alad is being an evil jerk ripping Tenno to pieces for money. This is almost guaranteed to be a lead in to Alad's boss fight reveal because he was recently a part of a big war event with one of the other enemy factions.

@alex: The incredibly short version? The menacing guy in the trailer is Alad V, a leader among the Corpus (one of the enemy factions in the game; basically a merchant cult obsessed with technology and profit), who is capturing and killing Tenno (the space ninjas you play in the game) and then selling their Warframes to other Corpus leaders to reverse-engineer. He is also working on some kind of secret project that will no doubt factor into a future in-game event.

Warframe is dope. I think it's cool the PS4 is launching with some actually good f2p titles, like Warframe and Planetside 2. I remember the dark days of my past where I got an N64 and had one game for the next six months. Granted, that game was SM64, but it was still a pretty rough time.

This is actually 1/4 of the full video going by the most recent livestream which they said the full version is around 4 minutes long. For anyone that's currently playing Warframe, I recommend this thread for LOLs.

I think Patrick did an article on this last winter, the source being The Dark Sector by developer Digital Extremes in 2008. For a failed single player game it was very ambitious, and had a real neat trailer of it's own attached to I believe Pat's article. I watched it 5 or 6 times.. A lot of heart but insufficient execution. The ideas and concepts didn't die though, and have resurfaced in Warframe.

@lazyaza: No, it's still very much focused on PvE, this is just adding to the lore/story of the game that DE are building up.

I like the game though I felt it was better before they went through and nerfed all the weapons and made all the enemies incredibly harder.

@tourgen: Well, if you've got a decent PC, Warframe is F2P and available on Steam right now.There's no reason this couldn't run on current consoles. You don't need a beastly Pc to play it.

I assume this is pretty much Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. And if that's the case, I'm definitely in.

@csl316: It's third person action, but from what I played the levels were more linear-progression rather than ME3's open map, stay-in-one-zone style. Still a lot of fun though. Quite an arcadey 3rd-person shooter/stabber. It does have skills which function similarly to the powers in ME though. There certainly are similarities, although Warframe never grabbed me the way ME's multiplayer did. It's definitely worth checking out though, especially as it's free.

Maybe they've changed this game since the last I played about a year ago but, I spent 8 hours on it and found myself not having a good time. Still, I'll try it when I get a PS4. Maybe it's better now.

This video does a better job of introducing the story to new players. Don't know why they chose the more esoteric one to hype the game's release for the PS4.

I wonder if they'll make better default gamepad controls now? This game is for 2 types of people, 1). Rich folks who can pay 300+ dollars for the full game and 2). People with a LOT of time on their hands to get passed the beyond ridiculous grind and waiting game this title forces on you to get the stuff you want. Mechanics are good though, although lack of dedicated servers is a kick in the face to anybody who pays money for this.

I have to agree with the last few, I played this game on pc with friends for a very short while, it became very apparent to us that it was a total grindfest, maybe that works for you, for us, it wasn't fun. One friend played just a couple levels, I played for a couple days, another for about two weeks, but none of us have ever even thought about touching it again since, so yeah.

Yeah, don't mistake this trailer as being indicative of gameplay. The gameplay is like Mass Effect 3 on crack (running, jumping, wall-running) and there is a lot of grinding. I really like the gameplay (I've got about 500 hours in the game over the last year), but this isn't Dark Sector 2 by a mile.

This is a very good example where a gameplay trailer would have lead to much better sales in the end.

I'm really hoping that the big shit with Alad V hits when the PS4 version launches up. Also, how fucking cool is cross-play going to be? It's going to exponentially increase the community, which means there's going to be a lot of fun shit going down. Imagine...planets where there is ALWAYS someone on them doing shit.

For those saying it's a grindfest.... Yeah, it's a free-to-play game. You are grinding for stuff. However, if you are playing this game ALONE, that is where the real problem kicks in. The co-op in the game is a ton of fun, and it's definitely the way it should be played. Quite honestly, there's not a single game on the market that I can think of quite like this. Yes, the basic premise is "yo, Mass Effect 3 multiplayer," but they have expanded on that so much more that it's become its own thing. I remember when this game didn't have half of the cool ninja shit you could do (wall-running, crazy melee weapons, sprint-sliding, etc). Everything runs at an exceptionally fast pace, and just getting yourself to the point of being OP as shit... Man, there aren't many games that genuinely make you feel as powerful as this game can in one second, then turn around and humble your ass with a few high level enemies on a defense mission.

I hope to see so many more Tenno when the PS4 version launch.

Also, the preferred way to play this game is, surprisingly, with a controller. Most people on PC even use it. However, there is definitely going to be some difficulty for some folks when they get into the Orokin Void and try to do some of the more challenging jumping puzzles.

This is a cool game to co-op with friends.

Warframe kinda stagnated a while ago. Every update simply brings more weapons (sometimes frames) to grind for, and the grind is usually quite long. There are no interesting boss fights or missions that involve stuff other than "kill guys" or "kill guys while standing in this one room".
