Kane & Lynch 2 "Bowling for Shanghai" Teaser

another ok....

i've got no idea how they're gonna continue after the last one, but i enjoyed the first one (save the pathetic endings). decent fun.

i really cant wait for this game.

Oh idk, I think the direction they are trying to go with these characters is interesting, although how convincing they can actually make them seem is questionable.
 
And of course the other problem is that although the ideas behind these trailers may be interesting, those ideas may translate very poorly into gameplay.

 I suppose I'm the only one on this website who completely disagrees with Jeff's Kane & Lynch review. I certainly wouldn't have rated the game higher than he did because the gameplay is terrible from start to finish, but he was wrong in saying that it had bad characters.
 
It's hard to symphatize with Kane and Lynch, but that's because they are anti-heroes, meaning we are not supposed to "like" them in the old-fashioned sense of the word. We are not meant to care about if they live or die, but rather how they live or die, as is the case with any character in any gangster drama. Characters that are traditionally considered good in gamer circles - Mario, Gordon Freeman, Duke Nukem - are all very iconic, but very few are actually interesting, because they don't develop and/or completely lack substance. Kane, a cold-blooded hitman / family guy who just wants to be loved, and Lynch, a heavily medicated but still unquestionably crazy paranoiac with a taste for cops, are both interesting because they have something that oh-so-few other game characters have: Serious issues.
 
Jeff was right that it's an ugly game though, and that's the whole point. It depicts people with ugly minds and ugly pasts who make ugly compromises in an ugly social environment. Kane & Lynch tried to be the first good ugly game, a brillient idea, but just happened to fail miserably on the technical side of things. If this game features functioning gameplay and some variety in missions and the same kind of artistic vision, I'm sold.
 
Also, this teaser is among the best I have ever seen for a game, there's something very Tarantino about it.

The first game was pretty shitty, kind of okay to play through cooperative with a friend if you're bored and got nothing else to do, but, not particularly stand outish in anyway. That said the game itself should not get extra shat upon because of the gamespot thing, that was Eidos' doing, not the developers Io's doing.
