Starting away from any spoilers for now, but I will absolutely watch this once I have the game!

The only spoiler I cared to discover was how much/little Final Fantasy actually features in this game. I got my answer, and will subsequently not be picking this up.

Perhaps in a the years to come when I have seen any of the movies Disney put out in the last 15 years, or more likely my kids do and love them, I will have some connection too Frozen, Big 6, Toy Story or etc.

Also, for those questioning it, the reviews I've read share one common theme. This is not a good game to start the series with. It does not do a great job of being new-player friendly, at all. If your a big fan of recentish Disney, it might not matter. Otherwise, fair warning, the game seems to be best played knowing the story that came before.

Is it me or does the voice acting in this game seem absolutely atrocious?

It varies significantly, but there is definitely a stilted and odd quality to a lot of it. I think this may be just par for the course with the series, but I'm not a KH-enthusiast so others could better compare it to the past games.

I want to like this. I like Disney and amusement park garbage more than I should, and I've certainly enjoyed overly earnest and melodramatic JRPGs in the past...I dunno. The mix feels off.

I’m surprised that Disney wants anything to do with James Woods. He is a legitimate piece of shit.

Man this is a huge relief this game seems like a fun, clever evolution of Kingdom Hearts 2 and has none of the horrible bullshit from the games since clogging up the gameplay elements.
The voice acting I'm not sold on, but KH2 had some awkward as hell stuff in the early goings then got a lot smoother and bit less cheesey. Though KH2 didn't have Maleficent and Organization people just popping up like this in worlds, here it feels a little less mysterious and "special."

As for Ben's take on the story, I think there's neat aspects to the weird universe they have crafted, but it has been muddled further and further since KH2. For instance, Birth by Sleep has that ominous prequel vibe of "these people are shadowing around these worlds up to their own shit, before the events of KH1 went down and things got fucked up" but the game itself is bogged down by the meh structure and awfulllll gameplay systems.

Anyway this looks like a really fun, silly, exciting romp.

I would never be able to get past that writing and voice acting.

Fuck. I wasn't really excited for KH3 and was willing to pick it up at a later date since I have plenty of other stuff to play, not to mention that I would like to finish Dream Drop Distance first, but this video really made me want to get it on launch day instead.

Kingdom Hearts is fun in spite of itself.

Hello, I am here for the familiar character action gameplay mechanics that have drained Square's resources from other projects for years. What's this about a story?

god after that lifeless anthem quick look (since that is definitely what that trashfire is going to be at launch), even though the giant bomb community has the worst takes on Kingdom Hearts and turn into complete babies when they're proven wrong, this game is just more and more exciting. I wish more games would learn from good third person character action stuff going on. It's gonna be so much fun and finally something that will stick with me.

This game looks about as boring as I've always felt from Kingdom Hearts, but damn that roller coaster boss battle was pretty cool. Weirdly reminded me of Bayonetta bosses.

@bladededge: honestly at this point people waited over 10 years for this game. Asking it to reiterate everything and be friendly to new comers is a bit annoying. how bout we go back to the old days where we didnt go to a store and pick up the 3 game in a series and think eh ill start here. Its like the reviews for infinity war noting how your not gonna like that they dont take an hour to tell you what everyone is or can do. how about we dont jump into the final part of a 8 year epic.

Just go with the flow and think of the other games as prequels you can watch/play when your finished for better context. I dont need mass effect 3 telling me what happen in 1 and 2. I dont need halo 5 telling me the entire story till that point. I dont need dbz telling me every character from db to like it. Just my two cents. with walkthroughts you can watch a short playthrough.

Also dont see or agree with the comments that this is too boring. Theres so much going on screen do we just have super ADD these days. Example Saw the dragonball broly movie and with all the constant action etc i was weired out when some people told me there wasn't enough action. Maybe im just growing out of touch

@topcyclist: I think people are used to slower clunkier combat like GOW2018 or something, and for whatever reason, don't think that in the first hour of the game, you wouldn't have every aspect of the combat like all the different weapons, summons, spells and special moves that these games have. It's impossible to take the criticism that this is "boring" in that case.

Disney gives their actors right of first refusal for any future re-use of "their" character. Whenever they use Hades they have to ask James Woods first and he always accepts because he actually really loves playing the character.

I'm glad that this game seems to have come together after all. This seems very competent and therefore is instantly a highlight for Square's output lately.

While 80% of the combat is certainly mashing the same button over and over, these games always have some bosses that are actually really tough and require you to constantly dodge, while looking for a gap where you can get some hits in.

Hmm, are these games basically just Final Fantasy but Disney ?

All these years and it's more of the same

The only edition of this game I'm now interested in is one where all the cutscenes are replaced by Ben and Jan describing and whiteboarding the scenes.

Our long national nightmare is over. Now let's wait for the next game.
