It would be cool if these games put Disney's characters in new situations, but we just see like mconalds toy versions of these characters. Hercules world feels like a Disney Infinity Playset.

Oof, I think I just don't like Kingdom Hearts games. It still looks floaty and imprecise as hell. Also isn't the entire point of Maleficent to be spiteful and cruel? There is no way she would just leave Sora alone. The game should have taken an interesting turn there.

Disney and Square do not give a fuck about celebrity abuse scandals. I'm not sure I want to support this game anymore.

The voice acting gives me a real "We want this to be listenable to foreign audiences/We want to make it easier to match up the dub" vibe that just kind of makes the whole thing sound off.

Just starting to watch this now, but I thought Ben was the KH expert? Isn't that why he started Kingdom Heartache?

@chacobo: Yeah. I get it. This is a less western take on things thou. Japan stuff has mostly always been about colorful fast combat with style. You almost never unlock everytthing that makes a rpg great in the first hour. Its a slow burn but for a reason. People enjoy this inbetween their short burst games like PUBG or Hitman. I dont know. Just bummed people are so turned off after years of build up. Makes me wary for all the hate infinity war part 2 or other built up franchises will get regardless of critics saying its good.

Rant aside thanks for your take helped me understand that its not ADD as i joked and more a choice of combat people dont enjoy.

@topcyclist: The same people have always hated on this series while it always has really good design that other games should learn from, even KH1 in 2002 really only had DMC1 and Onimusha 1 before it as comparable games - 2 games that excelled in their combat, replayability and progression. All 3 of those games haven't aged nearly as well as their sequels because they were always the ones leading the way for games that felt good to play. I'll always prefer the fast combat with style because Japan also came out with Dark Souls and Godhand and Dragons Dogma, and showed that weighty deliberate combat can be done right too. I think this game having a real personality and style means there are people that will latch onto it to hate it and take in things that are safer and boring instead.

Don't get perturbed by the hate, those people can't stand seeing these games get praise and rewards and genuine enjoyment, so you just have to play the game as you were always going to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@octaslash: What is this slander, James Woods is great. I went to look and see if there was some recent scandal I missed involving him, but it looks like he's just using his twitter account to help out some random user who was feeling suicidal. Not exactly the trademarks of a piece of shit.

This looks like Kingdom Hearts and I am still into that even today. I don't know anymore what it is, probably nostalgia, but even with bad writing and stiff acting I still just cant get over the novelty of seeing Disney characters mashed together in a scenario where they "fight" evil creatures and are contained in a ridiculous anime story that I don't actually care if it's good or not. I cannot get enough of that nonsense.

@rubberfactory people are mad at him for his politics. That's all I'll say about it. I don't want to get involved in whatever or where ever that conversation can go. I don't really care myself.

This looks like a straight up PS2 game running on a PC emulator.

@clapmaster: all you need do is look at the HD remasters of the actual ps2 Kingdom Hearts games to see how wrong you are. Not all games need to let you see every pore on the characters face and every hair on their head, a cartoony style like this one looks fantastic in its own right and has evolved in detail and tech just as much as other styles over the years.

Hold up. I was just becoming a teenager when Rescue Rangers was on and I'm pretty sure I'm a fair bit older than Ben. Was Ben even born when that show came out? I smell bullshit.
