I love me some lego games. But really? Next thing is going to be Lego Lord of The Rings, or Lego The Chronicles of Narnia.

So TT Games have abused every reputable franchise available (and Harry Potter and Star Wars) for their crumby Lego games , so now all they have left are the crappy modern ones. Good luck with that.

They make games based on actual Lego sets.  Lego release toys based on all of these franchises, thus they make games to appeal to the kids who buy the Lego.  I don't think they expect you to buy every last one but they genuinely put a lot of work into making these games, they pay a lot of respect to the franchises their based on and they're a lot of fun to play for all ages, even if they're a little bit samey at this stage.

I think these guys do amazing work, especially considering they could release any old crap with the Lego name on it and it would likely still sell.

@fillmoejoe: Like I said in the last post, they only make games based on existing toy lines.  Lego Pirates of the Caribbean toy sets were literally only just released this week.

I don't necessarily like the movies, though the Lego games have always made for some surprisingly addictive fun. Lego Star Wars III was brilliant and one of the best of the lot.

Still would love to see the Lego game franchise take on some more amusing titles & put out something disc or downloaded with Doom or Diablo franchises, call it wacky but I'd imagine it's only a matter of time before there's a Lego CoD or them doing a Lego game based on something similar.

Grabbed the demo tonight, loved it. Polished and full of promise, I'm sure I'll love it up until the point where I have to grab every collectible and realise there's playful glitches to scupper my plans for 100% completeness.

Really can't wait for this game, I've always loved the Lego games, right from Star Wars, the humour is classic and the nice touch of putting the extra film, rather than just the trilogy which means more Lego fun whooo

I've played the games and even for kids they're pretty dire. Technical issues (long load times, frame rate issues) and poor ideas (unintuitive and repetitive gameplay) plague every game, because they're the same thing. Maybe that's the joke, idk. Even the Lego version of Rock Band they made was kind of a painful mess.

And if by "any old crap" you mean relevant and popular franchises. There's a reason why you don't see just "Lego" games without some huge name carrying it.

@sofacitysweetheart: Completely untrue.  Kids love these games and many older gamers do.  Frame rate issues haven't been present in any of the newer games (since at least Harry Potter) and loading times have never been particularly bad (haven't played the Rock Band one though).  I do agree that they can occasionally be frustrating when you can't figure out what to do, but this very game has added several improvements to make that easier.  For example, objectives are now specifically highlighted - the first room of the game has a donkey with a carrot icon above its head to indicate that you have to find a carrot to get the donkey and solve the puzzle.

By "any old crap" I was referring to the fact they could easily release games with zero effort put into them, consider them nothing but kids game and know that the franchise alone will sell them.  The developers haven't done that and have always tried to put as much effort into their games as possible, there's always a huge amount of little nods and references to the source material and they pay a lot of respect to the Lego franchise too.  Look at something like the Power Rangers or basically any other game made for kids.  The developers of those games don't care what they're making and they put no effort into the games.

There's also been two Lego games released lately without any big movie franchise attached (although not made by these developers) and they also sold extremely well.  I think you're underestimating the power of the Lego brand itself.
