@vinny@danryckert The "Wa" in Wario and Waluigi is from the word warui which means bad in Japanese. So the names basically translate to Bad Mario and Bad Luigi. 100% serious.

Copacabana is indeed a real thing, Dan. It is a district of Rio. And also a lady named Lola told me it's the hottest spot north of Havana, although she was referring to a hotel/club of the same name and not the district.

Mario and Luigi's last name is Medici.

I love that they turned Mario and Luigi into an outer borough version of the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Going into the Mushroom Kingdom to escape their crummy lives as plumbers and be heroes for a little little bit.

Nope nope nope, DK Island is on Earth. There's globes and everything and the globes are of Earth. Also he visits space in a few games and can see clearly our continents. He visits the Mushroom Kingdom. Like Link did in Mario Kart 8!

(Edit: Also, another note, the city from Donkey Kong Arcade is called Big Ape City and is on the backside of DK Island. This is established in Donkey Kong Land. It's a city built by apes. Where humans don't live. Explains how DK Arcade 2 took place in the jungle, it's right by the city!)

I feel like Wario is the bad guy that issues the threats to the protagonists and Waluigi is the guy below him that all he does is repeat what Wario just said.
