Remedy's First Xbox One Game Is Quantum Break

I knew it was unlikely that we would see an Alan Wake 2. I waited 2 years after release to play AW, because I wasn't a huge Max Payne fan and reviews were solid, but unspectacular. It turned out to be one of my favorite experiences of this generation. So I'm just as guilty as anyone else for contributing to the underwhelming sales of Alan Wake.

I won't make the same mistake again, though. Bring on the episodic narrative; bring on the non-cover-based shooter gameplay, and bring all the Swedish rock music you can cram in this sucker. I'm on board.

if i had to guess, the live video stuff will be from a short webisode style series similar to bright falls, which was released prior to alan wake in order to hype the game and introduce us to the world of the game. Seems like this will do the same. Also, i think the actor playing the dad in it is live action alan wake.

Looks like the video series may introduce us to this girl, while the game probably has us fighting against, hunting down or something else as another character while this girl (or maybe it is years later and she is grown) uses her strange temporal powers.

Damn, i love how remedy uses hardcore genre tropes in their storytelling!

Always been a fan of how Remedy communicates to its fanbase. Disappointed to hear that they couldn't get Alan Wake 2 off the ground as their next project, but Quantum Break at least looks super ambitious. If pick up an Xbox One at some stage, I'll be supporting them for sure.

P.S. I'm pretty sure that actress was in the Bright Falls webisodes too.

Kinda looks like F.E.A.R. if everything is to be taken in a literal sense. The little girl got super powers from a corporation called "Monarch" that allow her to control time and the events that take place in the segment of time that she's focusing on. The corporation is terrified of her, tries to keep her calm and happy, and is also doing everything they can to stop the protagonist in the game from finding out all of this (The brief clip of that dude walking into a lobby and then fighting the monarch dudes (Funny Venture Bros reference?)).

That's basically all that I can conjure up out of that trailer.

That was...weird yet intriguing at the same time.

I have faith simply because Remedy is proven, but I hate TV tie in bullshit. I hope they dont do that...

I honestly thought they had cut to a commercial break for the first 15 seconds or so of this. Loved Alan Wake... really hoping this isn't going to suck.

Maybe Alan Wake would've done better if they hadn't chased the exclusivity dollar in the first place.

Given the Halo TV series announcement, and Microsoft's heavy emphasis on all this cross-media stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if this involves a tie-in with a TV series.

Makes sense if their goal is to showcase this cross- / parallel- / multi-media paradigm they've been touting.

Calling it now: The little girl represents us, and the game is going to be a tribute to Blast Corps. You play with your mind like those fancy, concept tech demos you control be concentrating or relaxing. Only it's with kinekt so it doesn't have your impulses for input, instead you have to frown at the camera and look really strained.

I love Remedy for making Alan Wake but I would have prefered to see nothing at all because this trailer didn't clarify jack squat

I trust Remedy enough to assume that something good will come out of this. Although, regarding the trailer on its own, that was some self-indulgent, contrived bullshit.
