Sleeping Dogs' Launch Trailer Arrives a Bit Early

I feel like your trying to tell me something is pretty good... Hmmm....

I do have a weird hankering for this game. I just like the setting and the tone of the areas I've seen so far, and I'm in the mood for a decent open-world-crime-game, so yeah, I dunno, I just hope it turned out pretty good. Maybe.

I haven't looked twice at this game before, but that trailer kind of rocked.

It's weird: I have next to zero interest in GTA V, and I played like 10 minutes of Saint's Row The Third, but I really want to play this game.

@zombie2011: Only been there once, for a two-week period, but yeah, it was one of my favorite travel experiences I've had. There's not really anywhere else quite like it.

Man...every time I see "Sleeping Dogs" I read it as "Watch Dogs" for a split second, and it's bumming me out.

Watching this game since E3 this year. The trailers, and little videos made up my mind that this is one of the few games I am getting this year. I can't wait until Tuesday. It's gonna be a good night.

In preparation of this glorious game, this weekend i plan on watching Hard Boiled, The Killer, A Better Tomorrow, Bullet in The Head, Infernal Affairs and debating on a few others. Thinking about maybe Brother, Election and Outrage as well.

Having played this at a few events it jumped to my top 3 most anticipated of this year.

Damn fine trailer. This game's probably gonna be at least decent; I can actually picture stars - 4 of 'em in fact.

Ever since Vice City I kept thinking Japan with the yakuza and korean crime families is a perfect next step but maybe Rockstar doesn't think it can convey that lifestyle very convincingly.

GTA has become as much a satire of American life/media as it is an open-world game, so I'm hesitant to promote it leaving the shores. I'm sure that's a part of Rockstar's desire to seemingly stay in the US. If other series wanna explore other countries I'm all for it.

And this game looks cool, but holy hell were the first 30 seconds (as@DJJoeJoe said) just a test to see if you have epilepsy? So many random quick cuts/flashing lights.

@CrossTheAtlantic: Yah thats the sort of direction they've been taking but it has been several games in a row now. Vice City, San Andreas and GTA4 while all showcasing very different and unique parts of American culture/life did start growing a bit stale for me at least. I loved Vice City and the soundtrack. I'm not as much into hip hop and gang wars and I thought the main protagonist was extremely weak in San Andreas but I appreciated the gigantic scope of the game. GTA4 I just outright did not enjoy. I thought the story weaved in and out of so many plots that the message for me ended up getting burried underneath a sea of arbitrary side one offs - not to mention that the more realistic driving model did not sit too well with me as driving just wasn't that much fun anymore.

Red Dead Redemption showed America at the end of the wild west - so I'm good on the American front. I think it would be beneficial for Rockstar to move out of that comfort zone and dive deep into a completely new and interesting culture. I'd love to work for the Yakuza and earn the tattoos while at the same time deal with the Korean gangs. Ride a bike through neon downtown Tokyo or cruise around sunny beaches of Okinawa. Thats why I'm thinking of really giving Sleeping Dogs a try because it just might do something different.

I've been pretty interested in this, but then I saw this one video of a side mission which was essentially one long quicktime event that had the button presses separated by walking around and driving. No actually gameplay involved. Granted, yes it was optional, but it was a little worrying.

I've been many places in south-east asia and Hong kong was once of the best by far.

I pre-ordered this a long time ago and this trailer only adds to my already high level of anticipation. Between this and Darksiders II next week is gonna be full of tons of gaming goodness.

I'm looking forward to this game. I was a bit weary at first since I thought that it might be another The Wheelman, but it seems more substantial than that from the gameplay that has been put up on youtube, with varied missions and upgrade system. I'm still expecting a pretty linear game, but all there is left to see how the pacing is. Looking forward to the review!

I've watched a pretty long preview of this game. There was this one section, where you are walking down an alley after a fight, and the next fight happens when a few baddies (I like to think of them as the black dragon) step out of this garage when the door raises. I could practically hear the Double Dragon music in my head. It does have a kind of Batman feel to the combat with the focus on counters and smooth animation transitions. Also, I saw you could fight the guys all regular like, or throw them in the trunk of a car and drive them into the ocean. Add to that you can smash a guys head into an aquarium, then beat the other dudes to death with a fish that pops out and I'm all in. Now if only I can change the main character's name to Jimmy Lee............

I just can't get behind cinematic trailers where the cinematics are in-engine. Maybe that's a personal failing.

@Veektarius: So you'd rather like a CGI trailer that has nothing to do with the game?

Solid trailer for a game that is hopefully good.

Came here to post pretty much exactly this. The very few upcoming games I'm interested in are either postponed, outright cancelled, or under a total veil of silence.
