Dubstep is totally the Ferrari of music. Or is that the other way around?

Wait. Is the related videos generated with the use of the word 'dubstep'?

Slightly mad studios had a good thing going with Shift, but I assume EA pushed them to do some of the physics a certain way. I'm interested in this, but the Ferrari only license may be a bit limiting. The test drive brand is kind of shit too. Amazon has it at $40 already though

Does substep solely consist of just one track?

I'm sure we all know how well Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli did in 2008 when it came out on the PS3, and I'm sure everyone was just bursting at the seems for another Ferrari solo racing game!

I like the Test Drive series and racing games in general, but a simulator for only Ferraris just doesn't interest me (though having these physics in Test Drive Unlimited would be great). Also, I feel like they don't really know who their audience is by putting dubstep in their trailer, but maybe I'm wrong on that one.

Seems okay but part of the fun with Test Drive Unlimited was the open world, nothing against track/rally races but there's quite more competition in other games there but still could be fun.

Oh Gawd I love beautiful racing games! It'll be hard to resist but I should probably just stick with Forza 4 considering how much money I've spent on it. Season Pass plus that Porsche add-on that's coming up.

Probably the most generic-sounding dubstep I've heard. I like everything attributed with it less. It was cool ironically for a bit, now it's grown more powerful than I could ever imagine.

Darn, was hoping for Test Drive Unlimited 3.

If only they'd do it right this time. So much promise in TDU1 blown by so much BS in TDU2. They finally had a winning formula and decided to produce a sequel on a freshmen-entry-gamble budget. It's Atari - they don't have the intelligence to commit the resources to make a quality game. They bet small, win little and squander the good ideas they do luck into. This will be a second rate, limited scope racer trying to cash in on brand association. Fact. Save your money for something worthwhile.

But who knows, Raven Squad was awesome, right? right?

Racing a F1 car around Spa and Suzuka .... that sounds awesome .... though, I would just buy the Codemasters F1 game instead.

Not really sure this game is needed.

When will people realize that dubstep trailers don't work if it starts after the drop?

Also, I'll just leave this here:

I have to say, this looks surprisingly good! I remember hearing about it, and thinking wow, that sounds dumb! Like the poor man's TOCA Race Driver. But now, here I am, and wow, it really does look great! Hopefully the handeling is true to form. Test Drive looks to be maybe the new TOCA Race Driver? :);)

For all the bugs TDU2 had, I put a ton of time into that game. There is nothing that compares to it. Open world racing, huge locations with exploration and tons of cars. Too bad they focused on all the social stuff instead of patching it up. Once I got the setting dialed in correctly on my G27, the game was a blast.

I hate atari as much as the next disappointed TDU fan, but I figure this game is about as far from their hands as can be. Slightly Mad Studios is a proven racing developer with a great engine, and hopefully Atari just outsourced their Test Drive brand name on the box.

It doesn't have the sheer number of tracks and cars that Forza does, but it's also releasing at a $40 price, at least on Amazon.

Funny the angst shattered expectations can cause...

I put a ton of time into it too - G27 with a RennSport Wheel Stand. Awesome. And they made soooo many great improvements - excellent wheel & shifter support (check), day/night and weather cycle (how sweet were the really huge lightning and thunder storms!), off road (check), damage model (check...well, close enough), new island (check), old island (f-yeah!), licenses (check...not done right, but check) - recipe for success? CHECK.

But then...

  • Shoddy small car selection
  • Spread too thin through too many classes
  • One best car in each class
  • = everyone driving the same car
  • DLC cars? No. DLC skins for the few cars in the game? Check.
  • Took all of the SP races out of the open world...
  • ...and wrapped them in stupid (stupid was a side-thing in TDU1, the whole packaging in TDU2)
  • And just managed to make a bigger game feel smaller

They had it sooo right and then...arrows to the fecking knee. With a little focus and money into the car selection and just sticking to what worked in TDU1 for race selection it could have been THE game. With a lot more money and focus...just think what Turn10 could do with this concept?

Being so close and disappointed is worse than just being a crap game, if it was just crap I wouldn't care. As it is I hate Atari with the passion of a woman scorned.
