I loved what I played of EVE and I hope this pulls through, it's such an interesting concept.

This is perfect marketing for this product. Pushing the aspect of letting players that dont want to play EVE be part of the world. That in combination with the crazy shit going on in the EVE MMO universe, seems like it may attract the hardcore that follow the stories but don't play EVE. Simple but probably the best course of action.

"This matters, there is meaning here" - If you pull that off, I would be willing to overlook the fact that this is yet another shooter. The fact that it's liked to EVE online, in and of itself, doesn't mean anything to me and to most other players who haven't played EVE. I definitely like the concept but want to know more about execution.

Even though this really isn't my type of game, I really hope Dust is successful. The concept is just too awesome to fail and I would love to see it implemented in more games.

As an active EVE player.. i am scared for my planetary factories... it is my main source of income... and with Dust... it may be at risk... this sure as hell is interesting... if Dust effects stuff we build with PI on planets now... I bet this will be a HUUUUUUGE impact on the market.. and market in EVE is everything!

No PC version, no thank you.

New Eden is (also just) the name of a Solar System within the EVE Online universe.

Also, the Dust 514 beta has so far been far from as smooth as shown in these trailers.

Why this is console only hurts my brainz. I also can't see how a person could have any real effect on anything going in the main game by just running around shooting people in this.

Did he say PS3? He didn't say PS3 exclusive. But I'm going to assume that's what he means. That's not good.

Cool stuff. I will definitely check it out as long as the quality/cost ratio is to my liking.

They're saying all the right things, it's a great idea. Ironically it's kind of the same thing EA says they want to move towards, where the mobile game impacts the main game, which unlocks items in the Facebook game. CCP is in a unique position to deliver on that rough concept though, considering how crazy EVE and it's core userbase already is. Virtual world galactic drama on multiple fronts, fucking cool. Just hope they figured out the videogame part as well.

I love how this is on the playstation, yet they're using 360 controllers in the video. also, i hope this game turns out to be cool.

I don't see how it can matter or have meaning as if you're just a console player getting into this - aren't these tanks and whatnot owned and bought by the corps? Meaning the PC players in the MMORPG? If so then what do you care how many tanks you spawn, the corp is picking up the tab at the end of the day and you just turn off your PS3.

Tried to get into EVE a couple of times now as I loved Elite back in the day and while the third person ship view thing was not as cool, the ideas that it entails matched my "wouldn't it be cool if..." thoughts playing Elite. First guy I spoke to online was a depressed Belgian who spent every waking hour on it telling me how much his life sucked. Great. I dunno how I feel about this Dust thing. It'll sure be interesting to read about when it hits though.

They're not saying anything concrete. If the games are linked in such cool ways why don't they describe how it actually works?

Depressed Belgian? Maybe you ran into the guy that some players were openly planning to drive to suicide at the fan fest? IT'S ALL CONNECTED.

I found it funny that he said thousands and thousands which to me means well below 10k players.  For an mmo, that is horrid numbers.  I understand that they are trying to tap into the console market and doing a mp fps is a pretty sure fire thing but there will be a big PC crowd backlash if there isn't a version for them.

I will probably buy this just because it is so damn weird.

The final 30 seconds of this and the tidbits included there are the first things I've heard that suggest the gameplay here will have some of that same sandbox, player-owned philosophy that is in Eve and differentiate it and make it sounds interesting. I think this is heartening. With the rest of the Eve connection hopefully this can become something special for a group of people (or become something since this will probably keep getting updates just liek Eve).

I was about to post this as well. I think it's amazing that they thought a PS3 only FPS game was the best way to bring the game to new players. And not on PC as well? An FPS? Really CCP? I certainly hope those rumors of an eventual PC release are going to turn out to be true.

Microsoft probably wouldn't allow any kind of connection between a game on their console and a game on PC that they don't own. And the whole point of this product is to bring the universe to consoles without cramming an MMO onto there. That said, we'll probably see a PC version down the line.

Really interesting to here that viewpoint. If that does happen then they've succeeded. Hopefully the influence between each userbase will be able to influence each other enough to be felt.

When zooming in the gun model needs to be higher. The view walking bob needs to be turned down as well.

@sins_of_mosin: I think their latest released number of active accounts was 400 000. And instead of having maybe a few hundred people online on a server like WOW or Rift etc has, EVE have up to 60 000 people online at the same time on the same server.

BE GOOD, seriously, be good and do well, this could be good for Eve if it takes off.

Not being on PC is a really dumb move.

You can't buy the game. Dust is free to play. :p

I'm looking forward to the awesomely weird stories this game will bring, also I like how the only way they thought of bringing this universe to consoles was an FPS.

I used to play EVE Online and loved it, but I could never explain to any of my friends why lol. Mining space rocks and floating around doesn't really sound too appealing to alot of people but it was...especially when you add in the awesome expansive universe, the spaceships, exploration, any skill you want, corporations, surprisingly helpful people, pretty cool combat, but of course...most importanly...dat space cash, son! I am really looking forward to DUST though cuz I'm sure like most of the EVE players such as myself, they're curious to know wtf is really going on on those planets finally!

Why is this not on PC also? No seriousy WHY?
