Ending this year just like how it started: surrounded by baffling circumstance.

This is what I envisioned the last day of GiantBomb.com to look like. Except perhaps with some occasional bursts of sobbing.

I know I am no longer a subscriber but this is such an amazing thing I had to leave a comment.

I know he wasn't actually using cheat engine, but just the stuff built into Bizhawk, but man cheat engine rocks [and what he did is pretty much the same sort of thing as cheat engine].

I actually didn't know that the emulator had that sort of thing, and actually would use cheat engine through the emulator for fun in the past [I got it at least working with Croc: Legend of the Gobbos [yes, somehow that is what I used it on]].

I highly recommend cheat engine, if even just to go back to old games you prob have finished just to goof off with.

I just finished watching all the game room videos, so this is a welcome surprise.

Its like watching a man slowly loose his sanity. You are great jeff, keep up the good work. Also, watch ghost in the shell, its one of the best animated show of all time. Up there with studio gibli stuff for me.

Yes @jeff, you should totally watch Ghost in the Shell.

There are two movies (Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell: Innocence), the early 2000's series Stand Alone Complex (which that fps is based on) and there's also Arise, which is an OVA series or something.

None of them are connected, outside of belonging to the same franchise, so you can easily just watch the movies and be done with the whole thing (though I have been meaning to watch Stand Alone Complex for ages).

is there a post explaining where they are moving too? i always keep hearing things about them moving but i havent been in the loop.

They're moving to the 1st floor form the 3rd in the same building; they're getting a dedicated studio and podcast room and have to share office space w/ some salespeople (though to the extent they're sharing it and how much of their regular antics they could possibly get away with remains to be seen i think). Apple is taking the 3rd floor (those jerks).

They've talked about it on various bombcasts and UPFs but they've only started doing it in earnest over the past couple weeks-ish.

Jeff is pretty much the only one of the duders I'd watch do a one-man show. Still a shame he couldn't have gotten at least one more person. Not even Rorie was around?

Huh...and I just watched Ghost in The Shell for the first time yesterday. It wasn't as great as I had expected, but still definitely deserves something better than this garbage...

@davidh219: I imagine between the move and GotY everyone is obscenely busy. I would've liked Danny or Mary Kish on the program, but I suspect they're busy too.

This reminded me of the old end-year streams where both Ryan & Jeff were going through Japanese Famicom cartridges, one cleaning them out while the other played them. It was rather sobering...

Still, I'm always glad they revisit old classics on these stream. I often don't find them really interesting, but they don't need to be; it all feels like you're just unwinding with friends.

Man what am I gonna do for entertainment next week? Talk to family? I don't want to do that.

@kerse: Rewatch old GB end-of-year streams. They got 6-7 years of them. Do one every day.

Sadly Jeff hit the nail on the head with how First Assault kinda misrepresents ghost in the shell overall. The actual franchise is rather vibrant and full of color in the more modern incarnations yet still works within a more realistic color palette but not one that is constantly brown/grey like this game is. Its one of those very self serious anime that can get pretty damn pretentious but it still has moments of levity and humor.

Essentially Dues Ex Human Rev and its sequel are probably the two closest things to how a GiTS game "should" be done. But perhaps in entirely third person with a few more batman-esc traversal elements and so on would be how I'd ideally like to see it interpreted in game form. A cover shooter at least would be a better use of the license than an fps certainly. Motoko, the lead lady is a very acrobatic and athletic character with super human strength due to being 99% cyborg. So she wouldn't merely go around shooting fools.

The 1996 movie of Ghost In The Shell is an absolutely fantastic scifi movie, but it's like 50% philosophy talks, 30% grimy as fuck cyberpunk landscape shots and 20% action. It didn't need a Call of Duty: Ghosts in the Shell adaptation.

Sonic 3 was just the beginning. Then came the dark ages...and Turok Evolution. It has to be the worst game ever created by man. It's like an alpha version running on an emulator running on a homebrew app made in half an hour at a game jam. Play Turok Evolution on PS2 and you will learn to appreciate Sonic 3.

So yeah, people in fact are going "YEAH! TUROK!" here in the year 2015. Being entirely divorced from N64 nostalgia, what the fuck is wrong with people? That's among the worst opening level design I've ever seen in my life. The first level in a shooter should be tight and concise, not whatever kind of meandering, drawn-out, aimless mess that was. Holy crap. And people in the Steam reviews are saying such slander as that if you're a fan of games like Doom or Quake you owe it to yourself to play Turok. Insane-talk.

Great show! I really enjoyed the demonstration of how to manipulate variables to cheat.
