Do they really know what kind of MMO they want to make?

I remember seeing those first few trailers that setup the whole, "you versus nasty monsters in modern day settings". An interesting idea at the time. I actually relished in the idea of teaming up with my mates and taking on hordes of the supernatural and undead. Now this is nothing more than faction, versus evil faction, versus even more evil faction. The memory of the setting they were planning in the first trailers had me interested. After seeing this, I'm not so interested anymore.

Unless it's a sequel to The Longest Journey or Dreamfall, I don't give a shit. Because everything Funcom has put out since IS shit.

This is just about the PVP....

Helps to do your research.. which entails idk.. going to their site ONCE and reading about features or you know, watch more trailers.

It is also pretty old news and better covered in their longer behind-the-scenes stuff. (Which you should watch)

Looks really really boring. Waiting for somebody to make a truly new MMO game, and not the same old crap in different wrappers.

For a little bit I was confused about the 90% of characters with masks on. Then I realized: who are the suckers not wearing masks in a game that uses the word "secret" 20 times a minute?
 
Also, I could not distinguish between those factions in that PvP. Unless the factions were "black suit guys" and "jeans and hoodie guys".

I was really looking forward to this game for a while. I'm also fan of Ragnar Tornquist's work, so the fact that he was involved with it made it particularly interesting. Sadly, I've completely written the game off at this point, because as typical of Funcom (and I guess I should have expected it) they just can't get it together. They announced it was going to launch with a subscription AND cash shop/microtransactions which just immediately destroyed my interest. I would have played it if it was a subscription, and at least given it a try if it was just F2P, but I'm going nowhere near this double dipping crap.

It does seem to have some identity issues. Its another game in which you gang up and bash monsters, but this time, it is a secret, except its not. Get it?

So. Wait.

It's a game where you pick a side, pick some "powers" (weapons), play on one of a variety of maps, "level up" by gaining access to new "powers" (weapons)...

and you have to pay monthly? That doesn't sound like a handful of other failed MMOs to come out in recent history.

I'll stick to TF2 and Guild Wars, thanks. Not sure why you want a P2P MMO that features the same progression (afaik), essentially, as a modern shooter.

I'm still interested despite this video not making a great impression. They have said there is no level system, a focus on story (but not as in SWTOR, it's story that is built into the world for you to explore rather than told in dialog and cutscenes) and that real world events will tie into the game. For example that you need to google real world things to solve puzzles in the game. From what they have said before it sounds much more innovative than this video shows it to be.
