Yeah, Epic is fucking bonkers. The owner has had things built for a one-day even and then torn down, she's crazy rich. I'm talking fresh concrete and temp buildings being torn down after one day. And the people that work there get worked to the bone. But after one year, if I recall from my friend that works there saying, if you survive, get sent on a vacation of your choosing for a week or two on the company.

Gotta say, watching someone stream a vacation slideshow about a place that I've worked at for 10 years is a very surreal feeling.

So I guess if anybody is curious what it's like working at Epic let me know?

Epic is basically the Salesforce of electronic health records. They are the biggest cloud solution for EHR systems, command the vast majority of market share now, and that's why they have more money than God. And yeah, its owner and other management are eccentric. My company works with them. I think they call their HQ the mothership or something like that? To what Jeff G said though, they pay their workers VERY well and tend to restrict who gets to train in their systems, basically building up a self contained ecosystem of consulting. They also have a reputation of working their consultants into the dirt like @benmo31 said, and most don't last there past a couple years.

And we thought the Umbrella Corporation had weird buildings on their campuses.

Dude/ette made a game mechanic. There is no game there (as you know). It isn't even a tech demo because they didn't do anything besides using other public models and fiddled with a movement mechanic. It would be cool to see what this person can do when they make a game but I would be they didn't even make the suit themselves.

I have been working over a year on one game with everything made from scratch and I struggle with whether or not I will be judged too harshly. The good part of this video is, for real, I am less concerned about what people think a year later and am going to continue doing what I think is best for us. Maybe one day I will see it on a UPF if I'm lucky. :)

It is interesting seeing how people out side the Medical-Tech industry see how these companies "invest" in their work force. All this crap is to make for a fun environment but don't you dare ask to work form home. They really did a number on folks during the worst parts of COVID.

There are thousands of them (not are all as nearly as successful) and the all basically do the same thing but EPIC has really cornered the market working with Larger Heath systems. Most of them treat their employees like trash and make heap loads of their money holding patient data hostage. So Jeff you are right to feel angry.

All of my medical records are on Epic and I access them through a phone app. It's actually pretty useful. You can make Dr. appointments, fill your rx, get up to the minute results on your test etc. Can't wait for the day it's hacked and it all goes to sh*t. lol.

The character design in Spirit Fighters reminds me of a few late 90s webcomics. They used cgi characters instead of drawing, and had the same low-detail look and vacant faces this game does. Also I love how it has 3 pips for either side's winning rounds, but is best 2 out of 3.

I wonder if Snoop is more chatty in the Zombies mode? There's a ton more wacky idle dialogue there compared to the multiplayer.

It's unfortunate that we still think a quirky, expensive-looking business campus is a shortcut to believing the company has a positive work culture. Hopefully we get past that some day. Let's spend less on gingerbread work rooms and more on eradicating racism, sexism, toxic work/life balances, etc. from workplaces.

I interviewed to work at Epic about 10 years ago. I was contacted out of the blue by a recruiter, I had no idea who they were and I have no idea why they got in touch with me specifically. I have social media accounts but I'm not especially active. It was a pretty weird experience, several remote interviews (I don't live in Wisconsin), "personality tests" to see if I'd fit in, etc. As someone else commented, they touted their paid vacations and if I remember correctly there's a lengthy "sabbatical" option after a certain period of time, too. Seeing Jess's video and photos as well as some of the comments here, maybe it's good I didn't get the job. Vacations are great, but being worked into the ground to earn them sort of takes the fun out of it. I'd rather tread water than be almost drowned, no matter how great the gasps of air are.

The Epic campus looks like it was designed by a company that thinks their employees are all nerds, but has no idea what nerds actually like.
