Although I need to watch these live, my newest tradition is getting up at the ass-crack of dawn on Saturdays to work on my portfolio as I watch the WMHH. It'll be bittersweet when I wrap up my portfolio so maybe then I'll watch 'em live. Great show gang!

I enjoyed the whole thing, but what was most useful this week was to hear about the costs for producing print material during the Comic Vine segment, especially the breakeven points for making a profit. My Dad's an author (novels and poetry on a small scale admittedly) so hearing the experiences of Jimmy Palmiotti was useful. Fortunately my Dad's brother in law is in the printing business, and any required artwork comes from a talented family friend, so that costs him very little at the moment. We found that if you ask a professional online publisher to print it, the costs escalate dramatically.

@Hailinel: @smiddy: @shakesvoltage:All valid points. I'm sure WM is aware there is a certain lack of interesting things to do with comics on a live show and have thought about ways to improve. I just wanted to get that feeling out there in an intelligent manner instead of the mess we see in the live chat. I support Comic Vine and what they are about, I just wish they could spice it up a bit.
I agree with you man.  And I think the answer lies within their first few Happy Hours.  I really missed it when they quit reading comics live as different voices.  It was entertaining, fun, and totally intrigued me to the point I considered buying comics.  (I have never bought a comic btw).  I think they should go back to that.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I want to put my opinion out there. I think something different needs to be done with the Comic Vine segments.I don't mind them being on the show, it is the Whiskey Media Happy Hour after all, and I like the people, but their segments have never felt right. It doesn't move the same way as the rest and often comes off as awkward in a not fun way. Even the staff seemed bored during this week's piece. I'm not fond of any flat parts of the show, so I'll say the Giant Bomb wasn't great this time around either, but CV has been constantly dull since the Happy Hour's inception.Sorry, I don't want to whine, and I love and support these sites. I just feel like something better can be done to make this a more entertaining watch for everyone.
Agreed.

Oh man that "Shit still broke" segment is my new favorite thing on the Happy Hour. Laughed again for another good minute this time.

Oh and if they really gave away Ico and Shadow of the Colossus for free.. I think that might be my forgiveness price. ;-p

Ahhhh, difficult times for the Will.  Bad luck havin Ryan there keeping him to task, and such self mastery needed in the onslaught of Norm's triumphant gloating.

Damn, and he already printed that pair of chopstick trainers with his Makerbot, what now can he do for revenge? Perhaps some bare wires on the power supply when Norm does his next blindfold build zen excersize, maybe coupled with a pool of spilled civet pellet coffee on the floor........yessssss.

Does anyone think that maybe the people who got the credit card info might not use the information for awhile?  Patrick sounded like he thought it was fine since no theft has been linked to psn yet.

@JohnPaulVann:  It would be nice to do that for you, but he's not published online, that's not how it works for him at the moment.  The text is written up on a mini Mac and the graphics are hand-painted.  That work is sent to the online publisher who approves it and sends back a useful copy for a reasonable price, but then they start asking for printing fees which is where they make their money. He ignores that and uses our network of friends and family.  He has been in print a few times for his poetry on a competition basis and has been writing a kids novel series too. t's too late in the evening here now, but I'll ask him tomorrow if there's something he'd like to share, and I'll either PM you or post here.

@bybeach: They would both have been best served by having a look at Bridge Construction Set,  which has been through a few releases - some of which are free, and some of which have a demo. It's fun for a while, it has a thing which lets you see the stresses on a bridge as a train travels across it, by highlighting the structure under stress. Useful for a student civil engineer, but it's a lot like that Universe Sandbox simulator thing otherwise.

Klepek looks exactly how i imagined him in my head when i heard his voice. when i first heard Vinny i thought he'd look like the original Karate Kid in the 80s. nobody can look that cool though :( Brad sounded like an Egon Spengler type, but he really looks some church kid trying to sell you a bible.

Sara and Jimmy sitting in a tree: Kay ei es es ei en gee...

Spaghetti and marshmallows... That's brilliant! I'm gonna make a geodesic dome and line up some condiment bottles and play Kitchen Bowling!

Enough with the "Shit is still broke" segment, if you can call it that. Also, ENOUGH WITH THE FUCKING PUPPIES! Now that Navarro is returning to the East Coast, they'll be no one to keep Rorie in check; I'll just mute his appearance when watching live.

I know it's lame to only have negative things to say, so I'll add: keep trying WM, your members are with you, we're behind you 100%, we can only go up!

@Hailinel: I think I have to agree.  I'm watching the Happy Hour after the fact and realized that I was fine with listening to the CV segment like a podcast.  However when I glanced over the watch the segment (in between working), MAN that was awkward.  Maybe it's because there was no guest on stage.

Will probably could've won. At least got one comic book on. If he didn't roll it up. The weight on the top caused it to topple.
