Overview
Michael Myers is a supernatural serial killer at the center of the Halloween film series. A relentless killer, he, as well as the success of the original Halloween, helped shape the format of the slasher movie genre that dominated horror cinema in the 1980s, inspiring other slasher movie villains such as Jason Voorhees of the Friday the 13th series.
Michael was institutionalized at a young age after stabbing his babysitter to death, only to escape as an adult to continue acting on his desire to kill. He is a silent figure, often referred to as "The Shape" in film credits, and is identifiable by his black clothing and the white mask that conceals his appearance. A common thread throughout the film series sees him hunting down one of his blood relatives.
