The Crazy Castle series gets its popular name from the (initially, US and European) subtitle of a series of games that starred Bugs Bunny in those countries. Between The States, Europe, and Japan, the series has covered many popular cartoon characters, and even created Kid Klown, a character that went on to star in his own series of games. Each of the games that has different characters depending on country/continent, due to licensing issues.
Mickey's Dangerous Chase was the first game in the series to have the same character in all three regions, and The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 3 is the first to retain the same title.
The games thus far, excluding the US-only mobile phone release "Crazy Castle" (which has original characters), have only appeared on Nintendo systems. Mickey Mouse III/Kid Klown in Night Mayor World was the last game to be released on a home console before moving to handhelds.
A few of the games were released initially and then "remade" for all or other markets, instead of simple sprite replacements. Roger Rabbit on the Famicom Disc System was remade on the NES as The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, and Mickey Mouse was remade into the Game Boy version of that same game. Soreike!! Kid: Go! Go! Kid was remade on Game Boy Color for all territories released as The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 3.
