    Overview

Monopoly Plus is a digital board game developed by Asobo Studio and published digitally by Ubisoft for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on November 18, 2014.

An adaptation of the Hasbro board game Monopoly and a successor to Monopoly Streets, Monopoly Plus features a vibrant theme (known as "Living Board") and both local and online multiplayer for up to six players at a time.

The game later received a PC release on September 7, 2017, as well as a Nintendo Switch release (both physically and digitally, as Monopoly for Nintendo Switch) on October 31, 2017. It also received cloud gaming releases for the Google Stadia and Amazon Luna.

The original release of the game was released alongside the card game spin-off Monopoly Deal, and was bundled with it (along with the "My Monopoly" DLC) for the physical and digital release Monopoly Family Fun Pack. It was later included in the Hasbro Family Fun Pack compilation on October 20, 2015 (for the XONE and PS4) and was bundled with Monopoly Madness on December 9, 2021 (for the XONE, PS4, and Switch).

    Gameplay

    Rule Variations

The game allows multiple forms of house rules, although players cannot mix-and-match different house rules (although this can be allowed in some versions through a glitch).

    • Classic Rules
    • Speed Die - Adds a unique third die to normal movement rolls, which allow players to move slightly farther or perform special movement actions.
    • Free Parking Cash - Fines and taxes goes into a fund that is collected by the player who lands on the Free Parking space.
    • GO and Movement - The player who lands on the GO space can collect 400 Monopoly money or move their token to any place on the board.
    • Snake Eyes - Players who role two ones on their dice receive 100 Monopoly money.
    • Rent and Auctions - Free properties can only be bought through an auction. Players cannot collect rent while in jail.
    • Wealth Rule - First player to reach 3000 Monopoly money in capital wins.
    • Property Improvements - Players can build Houses on their properties without owning the entire set, and can build Hotels without needing to build four Houses.

    Goal & Action Cards

Added in the Switch version, this set of rule variations adds options for a shorter game time by adding an easier alternate objective. It also adds Action Cards, which allow players to play their own special events from their hand. Players can opt to instead play the classic rules with Action Cards enabled.

    • Hotel Manager - First player to build a Hotel wins.
    • Real Estate Agent - First player to own a certain amount of properties at once (dependent on player count) wins.
    • Landowner - First player to accumulate 500 Monopoly money in rent wins.
    • Magnate - First player to have 2000 Monopoly money wins.
    • Town Planner - First player to own a number of full sets (dependent on player count) wins.

    Themes & DLC

The game includes two types of boards: Living Board (which is heavily themed and animated) and Classic Board (which better resembles the real-life board game).

The Switch version adds two new Living Board themes: Amusement Park and Haunted Board.

    Downloadable Themes

The original version of the game includes several DLC themes, most of which do not appear in the PC, Switch, and cloud versions:

    • My Monopoly, based on the board game spin-off, allows players to customize the board by changing property names, adding a "sticker" to each property, and placing 3D assets on the center of the board. Rabbids
    • Monopoly Rabbids (released alongside the game), Monopoly Just Dance (released on February 24, 2015), and Monopoly My Little Pony (released on September 28, 2015) each feature a classic board that is slightly themed, as well as an animated token. The Rabbids DLC is included in the PC, Switch, and cloud versions.
