Well, do you play with friends over live or in RL? (and if online, do they have CC?) ...if you answered no to both questions then I would recommend Braid I guess.
Dude, I'd say Braid. I got a great feeling after beating Braid. Castle Crashers I only made it to like...the 5th level before I got bored. That and I hate Newgrounds =D

Well I've only played the demos, but Castle Crashers feels like the kind of game that will last you longer. Only get Braid if you have extra points lying around.

I say Castle Crashers. Braid is fun but it's pretty short and once you beat it, there is no reason to go back. Castle Crashers on the other hand has a lot of replayability because you unlock new characters, and there is a bunch of weapons and animal orbs to collect. Plus the online and offline co-op is super fun

I can't remember who it was that said Castle Crashers was an overpriced Flash game, but I could literally make Braid in Flash, while I wouldn't even know where to start with Castle Crashers.

You could make the game mechanics maybe, but I seriously doubt you could make the puzzles half as good.
I say Braid. I bought that one and trialed Castle Crashers and I want to get the latter, but Braid is unequaled. I am going to get both eventually, and I would suggest you do the same.
Also, I know you can only pick one and odds are you've aready chosen, but you can't have just one of these games. As soon as you can afford the other, go for it.

Ahead of its time? Going a little overboard there. Art has been around a long time, combine it with a puzzle game - nothing "ahead of its time" here. If anything it's unique, and that's about it.
