I recently stopped by a comic book store I had never been into before to look for a particular book I am missing. Incredibly, there was a table set up where there was a guy modifying Xbox 360's to play "backup" copies of games (downloaded pirate copies). He was charging $40 for the modification, whatever it was, and had a huge library of games on DVD-R's for sale for only $4 a piece. This got me thinking - How many people out there actually have had their 360 modified in this way and are actively pirating games? It must be a relatively small percentage, maybe less than 1%, but among the "hardcore" gamer set it may be a bit higher.
Please answer honestly. Polls are anonymous and anyone who responds will never have their name revealed. However, if you do have a hacked Xbox 360 I would advise caution about revealing that if you are going to comment in this thread, especially if your gamertag is linked to your Giant Bomb profile. You never know who could stumble across this one day. Voting in the poll is safe, though, so again please be truthful in your response.
The Forum Rules strictly prohibit discussion about where to obtain pirated software and how to circumvent copy protection, so please keep that in mind when discussing this subject. This thread is meant to be an open conversation about the current state of piracy on the Xbox 360, and how that may be affecting gaming and the video game industry, and also to get a rare glimpse into the makeup of the Xbox 360-owning Giant Bomb community.
