    Hey Bombers,
Have a question here. I just bough a new HDMI enabled monitor and wish to use a hdmi cable through my xbox and into the monitor. I was wondering, can i keep the current AV cable that I have plugged in and use that for sound?

Both the HDMI and AV cable might not fit together.  If they don't, then you'll either have to remove the plastic shell around the AV cable, or purchase whatever Microsoft released to fix this problem.  That fix may come with a steep price, though.  So, for me personally, I just cracked open the case so that both HDMI and AV cables fit snugly.

thanks for the quick reply!, So you think the sound will still come from the AV cable? Even though the HDMI is plugged in as well? thats great!

Did that work for you? Because I wasn't able to get my speakers activated when I tried that. Ended up having to shell out for another set regardless.

I can confirm this works as I'm using it at the moment. HDMI going to the monitor, and AV cables going to a converter ending up at my desktop speakers.

The only issue is the 360 will restart whenever you switch out of HDMI mode on the monitor.

IIRC, MSFT makes a "slimline" version of the AV cables with all of the "V" removed, specifically designed for DVI/HDMI video-only setups.

UPDATE: So i went ahead, bought an HDMI cable and plugged it all in. Basically the resetting issue is crippling. My monitor takes about a second or two to kick into gear when changing inputs, so atm i cant even turn my xbox on with sound
Looks like ill have to just use an xbox vga cable.
